Sony Music Group is one of the "Big Three" major music companies. It was established on August 1, 2019, with headquarters in New York and an office in Culver City. [1]

Through his tenure as CEO, Sony experienced a resurgence during the 2010s. In 2018, Hirai stepped down as president and CEO, becoming chairman of Sony Corporation. He fully retired from Sony in June 2019, and retired from his role as a senior adviser to the company in June 2024.
