"Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else" is a song by American singer Benson Boone. It was released on February 27, 2025, as the lead single from his second studio album American Heart .

Composition

"Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else" is a pop rock song. ^[1] It features pulsating synths ^{[1] [2]} and a drum loop of driving rhythm. ^{[2] [3] [4]} Lyrically, the song revolves around moving on from a relationship and bearing no ill will toward one's past love, ^[3] as Benson Boone describes an encounter with his old lover while waiting for his current partner at a diner and being forced to apologize. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]} He is hesitant to break her heart but explains "It's not personal". ^[2]

Critical reception

Danielle Holian of Atwood Magazine gave a positive review, praising the lyricism; "Boone's lyrical simplicity is its greatest strength here – he doesn't overcomplicate the narrative, but instead speaks directly to the heart of anyone who's experienced the awkwardness of seeing an ex when you're no longer on the same page.", production; "The blend of electronic elements with traditional instrumentation lends itself to a sound that feels both modern and timeless, a delicate balance that speaks to Boone’s versatility as an artist." and the song's "ability to be both personal and universally relatable." ^[4]
