Southport light rail station is a major public transport interchange in the Gold Coast suburb of Southport, the Gold Coast's CBD. [1] The Southport light rail station and the Southport bus station (located adjacent to light rail station) provide a bus and light rail interchange for the Gold Coast central business district. The station opened in July 2014 with the introduction of the G:link light rail system. [2]
Translink provides an integrated public transport network for the whole of South East Queensland. [3] Kinetic (Formerly Surfside Buslines) under contract from Translink provides high frequency and suburban bus services from the Southport bus station. Buses provide connections to the surrounding suburbs. The light rail service, known as G:link runs from Broadbeach South to Helensvale via the key activity precinct Surfers Paradise.
The Southport light rail station is located centrally in the Gold Coast CBD precinct. Attractions nearby include Chinatown, Australia Fair shopping centre and the Gold Coast TAFE campus. [4]

The Gold Coast railway line is an interurban railway line operated by Queensland Rail in Queensland, Australia, connecting Brisbane with the Gold Coast. The line has 17 stations. In 2021, a journey from Central station to the terminus of this line was scheduled to take 1 hour 23 minutes. There are plans for several new stations along the existing line, as well as an extension south.

The line opened on 20 July 2014 and was extended northwest from Gold Coast University Hospital to Helensvale on 17 December 2017.

The Gold Coast Private Hospital is a private hospital facility in Southport, Gold Coast that replaced Allamanda Private Hospital from 12 March 2016. The $230 million facility opened with 284 beds and 13 operating theatres with capacity to expand to 400 beds and 21 theatres, in line with demand.
Brisbane Metro is a planned high-frequency bus rapid transit system that will service Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It will consist of two routes that will run through the Brisbane central business district (CBD) every five minutes during peak times (12bph), transporting up to 1,800 passengers per hour in each direction. The Gold Coast University Hospital station is the only underground light rail station for network and provides a bus interchange located on the street level.
