Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning,first established as a technical school in 1922,and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today,Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school,offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. These colleges include College of Natural Sciences (CONAS),College of Health Sciences (CHS),College of Engineering Art &Design (CEDAT),College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (CAES),College Of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS),College of Humanities &Social Sciences (CHUSS),College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS),College of Veterinary Medicine,Animal Resources &Bio-security (COVAB),College of Education and External Studies (CEES) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS). In addition,Makerere has onother campus in Eastern Uganda Jinja City.

Syda Namirembe Bbumba is a Ugandan accountant,politician and banker. She served in the Cabinet of Uganda as Minister of Energy and Minerals from 2002 to 2006,Minister of Gender,Labor and Social Development from 2006 to 2008,Minister of Finance from 2009 to 2011,and Minister of Gender,Labor and Social Development again from 2011 to 2012. She was also the elected Member of Parliament for Nakaseke County North,Nakaseke District She was the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on National Economy and also Chairperson of the Parliamentary Islamic Banking Forum. She was Sub-Saharan Africa's representative to the OIC Women Advisory Panel.
Esther Mayambala Kisaakye is a Ugandan judge. She is a Justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda. She was appointed to that position in July 2009.

Rosemary Museminali is a Rwandan politician and diplomat,currently working for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS),as its representative at the African Union and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Museminali is best known for her role as the Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from 2005 until 2009. She has also served as the country's Minister of State for International Cooperation and as ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Christine Joyce Dradidi Ondoa is a physician and medical administrator who is regarded as one of Uganda's finest leaders especially in ensuring that the quality of health service delivery in Uganda is improved,and discipline and ethical code of conduct among health workers is observed. She is a Ugandan paediatrician and Christian Leader. She currently serves as the Director General of the Uganda AIDS Commission. She was appointed to that position by the President of Uganda in February 2014. Prior to that,she served as a Senior Presidential Advisor to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Public Health. She was a member of the board of directors of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI). She was Minister of Health in the Ugandan Cabinet from 2011 to 2013. She was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011,but was replaced by Ruhakana Rugunda on 23 May 2013. On account of being a cabinet minister she was a member of the Ugandan Parliament,in an ex officio capacity. Prior to that,she was the Executive Director of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital,one of the fourteen regional referral hospitals in Uganda.

She served as the State Minister for Urban Planning in the Ugandan Cabinet from 15 August 2012,until 6 June 2016,when she was dropped from cabinet. In the cabinet,she replaced Justine Lumumba Kasule,who was appointed Government Chief Whip. Najjemba served as the elected Member of Parliament for Gomba County,Gomba District on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party ticket,for two consecutive terms,from 2006 until 2016.

Prior to that,from 15 August 2012 until 25 July 2013,she served as the State Minister of Health for General Duties. She replaced Richard Nduhura,who was appointed Uganda's Ambassador to the United Nations. Victoria Nakintu Nkwanga Katamba,commonly referred to as Victoria Katamba,is a Ugandan lawyer and Judge of the Uganda High Court,effective Friday 5 October 2019. She serves as the Head Judge of the Masaka High Court Circuit,since October 2021.
