Standing in the Way of Control is the third studio album by American indie rock band Gossip, which was released on January 24, 2006. The album was produced by Guy Picciotto and Ryan Hadlock It reached number 1 on the UK indie chart [13] and also reached Gold status in the United Kingdom. [14]

Irish Times described Beth Ditto's performance on the album as "a compelling combination of Brenda Lee, Dolly Parton and Siouxsie Sioux." [15] Describing the title track, journalist Kevin Courtney noted that it was a "barnstorming indie-electro-disco stomper". [15]

The title track also serves as the unofficial theme song to the British teen drama Skins , as its use in the DVD menu and promotional material led viewers to associate it with the series.[ citation needed ] It is also featured on the show's soundtrack album.

U218 Singles is a greatest hits album by Irish rock band U2, released in November 2006. In most markets, the album contains 18 songs: 16 of their most successful and popular singles, and two new songs. The 17th track is a cover version of the Skids' "The Saints Are Coming", recorded with Green Day to benefit Hurricane Katrina charities. The 18th and closing track was a new song entitled "Window in the Skies". In some markets such as the United Kingdom, an extra song, "I Will Follow", was included as the opening track. The 2006 issue had climbed up to number 13 on the UK Singles Chart in early 2007 on download sales, but the 2007 re-release was under a new catalogue number, meaning that their six-place climb to number seven on March 4 was listed as a new entry rather than as a climber. But it reached the top spot in the UK Indie Chart for one week.

"Listen Up!" is a song by American indie rock band Gossip, released in July 2006 from their third studio album, Standing in the Way of Control (2006). It was re-released in 2007, peaking at number 39 on the UK Singles Chart during this second run.

The album follows his 2009 EP Russian Roulette, and is his first studio album since 2006's The Beautiful Lie. On his official MySpace blog, Harcourt said of the album: "It's got horns, violins, howling, mellophones, the Langley sisters, barks, whistles, hell I even sung down by a creek in the middle of the night." Harcourt told Direct Current that the album is "about that gleaming quality – the vitality, the passion – that drives you to keep going and not give up." A special edition of the album was also released in the UK, featuring a bonus disc of unreleased recordings. The album was preceded by the radio single "Do as I Say Not as I Do."
