East Timor is divided into:
East Timor is divided into 14 municipalities, which are former districts. One municipality is also a Special Administrative Region (SAR). The municipalities are divided into administrative posts, and further subdivided into sucos (villages). Atauro Island was initially a part of Dili Municipality, but became a separate municipality on 1 January 2022. The borders between Cova Lima and Ainaro and between Baucau and Viqueque were changed in 2003.
Baucau is a municipality, and was formerly a district, of East Timor, on the northern coast in the eastern part of the country. The capital is also called Baucau. The population of the municipality is 111,694 and it has an area of 1,506 km2.
São Nicolau is one of the Barlavento (Windward) islands of Cape Verde. It is located between the islands of Santa Luzia and Sal. Its population is 12,424 (2015), with an area of 343 km2 (132 sq mi). The main towns are Ribeira Brava and Tarrafal de São Nicolau.
Tarrafal de São Nicolau is a city in the western part of the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde. With a population of 3,733, it is the most populous settlement of the island. It is the seat of the Tarrafal de São Nicolau Municipality, and the main port of the island. It is situated on the west coast, 9 km southwest of Ribeira Brava.
Salamansa is a village in the northeastern part of the island of Sao Vicente, Cape Verde. It is situated on the north coast, approximately 5 km northeast of the city centre of Mindelo. In 2010 its population was 1,179. Salamansa is a fishing village with a long sandy beach.
The Comoro River is a river in East Timor. It flows north into Ombai Strait, reaching the coast in the north western suburbs of the capital, Dili. In its lower reaches, it is the main and largest of Dili's four major rivers.
Ribeira Brava is a city on the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde. It is the seat of the Ribeira Brava Municipality. Its population was 1,936 at the 2010 census. The town is situated in the valley of the river Ribeira Brava, east of the main mountain range of the island. The name of the river is Portuguese for "rough stream", referring to the violent behaviour of the river during rains. The city has a colonial look with Portuguese style buildings, parks and gardens, small winding streets, and steep hills.
Funar is a suco in the northwest of Laclubar subdistrict. It has 1790 inhabitants and an area of 91.55 km2.
Aissirimou is a village and suco in Aileu Subdistrict, Aileu District, East Timor. The administrative area covers an area of 29.81 square kilometres and at the time of the 2010 census it had a population of 2192 people.
Lahae is a suco in Aileu subdistrict, Aileu District, East Timor. The administrative area covers an area of 13.64 square kilometres and at the time of the 2010 census it had a population of 1061 people.
Fatisi is a suco in Laulara subdistrict, Aileu District, East Timor. The administrative area covers an area of 11.82 square kilometres and at the time of the 2010 census it had a population of 1156 people.
Idalaka is a Malayo-Polynesian dialect chain spoken in East Timor. The name is a portmanteau of Idaté and Lakalai.
Suai Airport, officially Commander in Chief of FALINTIL, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, International Airport, and also known as Covalima Airport, is an airport serving Suai, in Cova Lima Municipality, East Timor.
The Bandeira Waterfall is a tall waterfall in the municipality of Ermera, East Timor. It forms part of a minor tributary of the Loes River.
The Berloi Waterfall is a small waterfall in the municipality of Aileu, East Timor. It forms part of a minor tributary of the Comoro River.
Chã de Areia is a subdivision of the city of Praia in the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. Its population was 247 at the 2010 census. It is situated south and west of the city centre. Adjacent neighbourhoods include Plateau to the northeast, Achadinha to the north, Várzea to the west, Achada Santo António to the southwest and Prainha to the south. Its main streets are Avenida Combatentes da Liberdade da Patria and Avenida Cidade de Lisboa. Points of interest in Chã de Areia include the beach of Gamboa, the old port of Praia and the Cape Verdean National Archives, housed in the former customs building.
The Bay of Dili is a bay on the north coast of East Timor adjacent to Dili, its capital city. The bay forms part of Ombai Strait, which separates the Alor Archipelago from the islands of Wetar, Atauro, and Timor in the Lesser Sunda Islands.
Bidau Santana is a suco in Cristo Rei Administrative Post, Dili Municipality, East Timor. The administrative area covers an area of 1.84 square kilometres and at the time of the 2015 census it had a population of 6,482 people.
Cape Fatucama is a cape or large headland a short distance north east of Dili, on the north coast of East Timor. It is best known as the site of the Cristo Rei of Dili, a colossal statue of Jesus Christ.
East Timor–Brunei relations refer to foreign relations between East Timor and the Brunei. Diplomatic relations were established in 2002 after East Timor was granted independence.
