The Sussex Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1993 by its current musical director Mark Andrew James. Based in Brighton, England, and consisting of both professional and amateur players, the orchestra performs large scale works and promenade concert events at venues in Sussex.

Gustav Mahler was an Austro-Bohemian Romantic composer, and one of the leading conductors of his generation. As a composer he acted as a bridge between the 19th-century Austro-German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century. While in his lifetime his status as a conductor was established beyond question, his own music gained wide popularity only after periods of relative neglect, which included a ban on its performance in much of Europe during the Nazi era. After 1945 his compositions were rediscovered by a new generation of listeners; Mahler then became one of the most frequently performed and recorded of all composers, a position he has sustained into the 21st century.
Bob Carr Theater is an auditorium located in Orlando, Florida. Opening in 1927, the venue is currently owned by the City of Orlando and in 2013, the site was integrated into the Creative Village Development plan.
The Long Man of Wilmington or Wilmington Giant is a hill figure on the steep slopes of Windover Hill near Wilmington, East Sussex, England. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) northwest of Eastbourne and 1⁄3 mile (540 m) south of Wilmington. Locally, the figure was once often called the "Green Man". The Long Man is 235 feet (72 m) tall, holds two "staves", and is designed to look in proportion when viewed from below.
Ian Carr was a Scottish jazz musician, composer, writer, and educator. Carr performed and recorded with the Rendell-Carr quintet and jazz-fusion band Nucleus, and was an associate professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He also wrote biographies of musicians Keith Jarrett and Miles Davis.

Thomas Drinkwater Chataway was an English-born Australian politician. Born in Wartling, Sussex, he was educated at Charterhouse School before migrating to Australia in 1881, where he became a grazier and sugar mill-owner in New South Wales and then Queensland. He was a leader among Queensland cane growers, sitting on Mackay Council and serving as mayor in 1904. In 1906 he was elected to the Australian Senate as an Anti-Socialist Senator for Queensland. He joined the Commonwealth Liberal Party when it formed in 1909. Chataway was defeated in 1913, after which he became a journalist in Melbourne.

Paul Carr is an English classical music composer. Born in Cornwall, he has been writing music since the age of 15. He studied voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and worked in opera stage management before concentrating on composing. He is the brother of conductor Gavin Carr.
