Maharashtra State Electricity Board is a state government electricity regulation board operating within the state of Maharashtra in India. The MSEB was formed on 20 June 1960 under Section 5 of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948. In 1998 it was the second largest electricity generating utility in India after National Thermal Power Corporation.
NLC India Limited (NLC) is a Navratna government of India company in the fossil fuel mining sector in India and thermal power generation. It annually produces about 30 million tonnes of Lignite from opencast mines at Neyveli in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India and at Barsingsar in Bikaner district of Rajasthan state. The lignite is used at pithead thermal power stations of 3640 MW installed capacity to produce electricity. Its joint venture has a 1000 MW thermal power station using coal. Lately, it has diversified into renewable energy production and installed 1404 MW solar power plant to produce electricity from photovoltaic (PV) cells and 51 MW electricity from windmills.
The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) is the Kolkata-based flagship company of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, born from the erstwhile RPG Group, under the chairmanship of businessman Sanjiv Goenka. It is an Indian electricity generation and the sole distribution company serving 567 square kilometres (219 sq mi) of area administered by the Kolkata municipal corporation, in the city of Kolkata, as well as parts of Howrah, Hooghly, 24 Parganas (North) and 24 Parganas (South) districts in the state of West Bengal. It serves 3.0 million consumers approximately, which includes domestic, industrial and commercial users.
West Bengal State Electricity Board (WBSEB) is a state government electricity regulation board in West Bengal in India. It was formed on 1 May 1955. It has two subsidiaries namely West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) and West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company (WBSETCL). The subsidiaries were formed on 1 April 2007 under the provisions of West Bengal Power Reform Scheme, 2007.

The company was created by the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) as its wholly owned subsidiary in the context of liberalization and as a part of efforts towards restructuring of the power sector with the aim of improving efficiency in management and delivery of services to consumers. As a part of power reform Process, the Electricity Act, 2003, was passed by the Central Government and Gujarat Electricity Industry Act, 2003, was passed by the Government of Gujarat to restructure the electricity industry with an aim to improve efficiency in management and delivery of services to consumers.
The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) is an electrical power generation and distribution public sector undertaking owned by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It was formed on 1 November 2010 under section 131 of the Electricity Act of 2003, and is the successor to the erstwhile Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. The electricity board's generation and distribution wings are its nucleus. TANGEDCO is a subsidiary of TNEB Limited.

GMR Vasavi Diesel Power Plant, owned by GMR Power Corporation Limited, was a private-owned power plant located in Basin Bridge, Chennai. It was a 200-MW LSHS fuel power plant of the GMR Group. The plant was based on two-stroke diesel engine technology from MAN B&W, Germany. It was the state's first plant commissioned by the private sector. The plant was decommissioned in 2018.
Basin Bridge Gas Turbine Power Station is a state-owned gas fuel-based power plant located in Basin Bridge, Chennai. It has a capacity of 120 MW and is operated by the Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board.

Bhavani Kattalai Hydroelectric Project is a hydropower generation project in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a 90MW power generation project constructed across the Kaveri River. The project area is in the downstream of Lower Mettur Hydroelectric Project. This project consists of three power plants which are located between Bhavani and Pasur, Erode. This hydropower generation project is owned by Government of Tamil Nadu and operated by TANGEDCO.
