TVS Jupiter is a variomatic scooter launched in September 2013 by India's TVS Motor Company. [1] The launch of the scooter marked the company's entry into the part of the market that mainly targets females. This Variomatic Scooter is launched as a rival for Honda Activa.

It is powered by a single-cylinder, four-stroke, 110 cc (6.7 cu in) engine and delivers 5.88 kW (7.88 bhp) at 7,500 rpm. The scooter delivers a pick-up of 0 to 60 km/h in 11.2 seconds. [2] [3] The scooter has an 'Econometer' and has a fuel efficiency of 49 kmpl, per the manufacturer. [4]

In July 2018, TVS Jupiter crossed the 2.5 million unit sales mark and became the second most sold scooter in India. [5] [6] On 7th October 2021, TVS Launched the 125cc Variant of Jupiter in order to compete TVS Ntorq, Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125. [7] and uses an all new 124.8 cc engine.

Awards

In 2014, the NDTV Car & Bike Awards named the TVS Jupiter the Scooter of the Year. [8] The TVS Jupiter also won awards from BBC Top Gear India and Bike India, which named it the Scooter of the Year, making it the most awarded scooter in India. [9] [10] [11] It also won the award for Excellence in Branding & Marketing at the 5th CMO Asia Awards by World Brand Congress. [12] TVS reached 500,000 scooters on the road in 18 months, which is a record in the Indian two-wheeler industry. [13]

Special Edition

In 2015, TVS Motor Company launched a new limited volume variant of the Jupiter, called the TVS Jupiter Scooter-of-the-Year Special Edition, created to celebrate the TVS Jupiter being named Scooter of the Year 2014 in India. [14]

TVS has successfully launched many models, such as the TVS Jupiter ZX, TVS Jupiter Classic, and the most recent TVS Jupiter Grande.

Honda NH series

The NH series of Honda scooters was sold worldwide beginning in 1983, in 50, 80, 90, 100 and 125cc versions. All models have an air-cooled two-stroke engine with CDI ignition. All models except the Lead 50 have leading link front suspension, electric and kick start, and a fuel gauge. The Lead 50 has a traditional telescopic fork front suspension and only electric start. All models have drum brakes and CVT transmission.

The Platina was launched in April 2006 at an ex-showroom price of Rs 35,000 and crossed sales of 500,000 units within eight months of its launch. A 125 DTS-Si variant with the same engine as the XCD was introduced in September 2007 with sales of more than 30,000 units per month but subsequently discontinued.

It is marketed mainly to women, and in 2009 was the largest selling brand among scooters aimed specifically at women buyers, selling about 25,000 units per month, compared to about 60,000 per month for the overall top selling scooter in India.

TVS Wego

TVS Wego is a scooter manufactured by TVS Motor Company. It is a unisex, dual usage scooter and was introduced in 2010. After the releasing several variants of TVS Scooty, the company entered in the higher end segment of the scooterette market by introducing Wego.

The Hero Pleasure was an automatic scooter manufactured in India by Hero Honda. It was launched in 2005.

BMW G 310 R Standard motorcycle

The BMW G 310 R is an entry-level standard motorcycle developed jointly by BMW and TVS Motor Company of India. It is BMW's first, modern, low-end, sub-500 cc, beginner motorcycle sold under the BMW Motorrad brand. It debuted in November 2015 with global sales beginning in 2018.

TVS Ntorq 125 is a motor scooter manufactured by TVS Motor Company in India. It is powered by a single cylinder, four stroke, 3 valve, TVS and delivers 6.9 kW at 7500 rpm. The scooter delivers a pick-up of 0 to 60 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The scooter has a top speed of 95 km/h as per the manufacturer. It is TVS’ first 125 cc scooter with connectivity - Bluetooth enabled.
