Mangalagiri Tadepalli Municipal Corporation is the local self-government in Tadepalle,Mangalagiri town's of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is classified as a Municipal Corporation. It is one of the important local bodies in the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region. [1]

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department issued an order notifying the merger of ten-gram panchayats — Undavalli, Penumaka, Prathuru, Vaddeswaram, Ippatam, Mellempudi, Chirravuru, Kunchanapalli, Kolanukonda and Gundemeda of Tadepalli mandal with Tadepalli Municipality. Thus, the town has a population of 99,428 (Census 2011) and spans an area of 61.76sq.km.

Administration

The municipality was constituted in the year 2009 and is spread over an area of 25.45 km2 (9.83 sq mi). [2] [3] Tadepalle municipality and its out growth, Undavalli, are a part of Vijayawada urban agglomeration. [4] The present municipal commissioner of the city is P.Shakuntala. [5] [6]

On March 2021 Tadepalli Municipality and Mangalagiri Municipality was merged along with corresponding villages and formed Mangalagiri Tadepalli Municipal Corporation.

Civic services

The municipality with the help of Irrigation Department, improves the drinking water, internal roads, supply of electricity and sewerage management. [1]

Projects

Tadepalle is one of the seven municipalities, along with Vijayawada and Guntur Municipal Corporations to be a part of a 15 MW waste-to-energy plant project. It is planned to be set up with the collaboration of the JITF Urban Infrastructure Limited. [8]

In Vijayawada, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is in charge of the civic administration and infrastructure of the city. It was formed in 1981 by upgrading from municipality status. Many other neighbourhoods were later merged into the corporation limits to a total area of 61.88 km2 (23.89 sq mi), located in Krishna district. It is adjoined by the Legislative capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati. It was also been part of Andhra Pradesh Capital Region. VMC is divided into 77 wards. Each ward is headed by a corporator, elected by popular vote. The corporators elect The City Mayor who is the titular head of VMC. The executive powers of the VMC lie with the Municipal Commissioner appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission monitors the municipal elections that are held in the city once in every five years. The last elections were held on 10 March 2021.
