Tara Elizabeth Moriarty is an Australian politician. She has been a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 2019,representing the Australian Labor Party. [2]
Moriarty was Chair of Club Plus Superannuation and Secretary/President of the Liquor and Hospitality Division of UV prior to her election. [3] She has been Senior Vice President of NSW Labor and a member of the ALP National Executive.
Upon her election in 2019,Moriarty was immediately appointed to the shadow ministry,serving as the Shadow Minister for Mental Health and Crown Lands. She served in this role until Jodi McKay was replaced as Leader by Chris Minns in 2021. [2]
In 2021,she was appointed Shadow Minister for Corrections,Juvenile Justice and Medical Research in the shadow Ministry of Chris Minns. Following Labor's victory in the 2023 New South Wales state election,Moriarty was appointed Minister for Agriculture,Regional New South Wales and Western New South Wales in the Minns ministry. [2]
The New South Wales Government,also known as the NSW Government,is the governing body of New South Wales,Australia. The executive government comprises 11 portfolios,led by a ministerial department and supported by several agencies. There are also a number of independent agencies that fall under a portfolio but remain at arms-length for political reasons,such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption and Electoral Commission. Jodi Leyanne McKay is a former Australian politician who was the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales from June 2019 until May 2021. She previously served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly,representing Strathfield for the Labor Party from 2015 to 2021. McKay also previously represented Newcastle for one term from 2007 until her defeat at the 2011 election. Between 2008 and 2011,McKay held a number of junior ministerial responsibilities in the Rees and Keneally governments,including serving as the Minister for the Hunter,Tourism,Small Business,Science and Medical Research,Commerce,and Women,and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer). On 17 October 2021,McKay announced she would resign from the parliament,which triggered a by-election in her seat of Strathfield. McKay subsequently became National Chair of the Australia India Business Council.
David Robert Harris is an Australian politician. He has served as Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Treaty,Gaming and Racing,Veterans,Medical Research and the Central Coast since April 2023. He has been a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly since 2015,representing the electorate of Wyong. He previously represented the same electorate from 2007 to 2011.

An election for the leadership of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party was held between 7 and 29 June 2019. The election was triggered by the resignation of Leader Michael Daley on 25 March 2019. The election was a combined vote by the party membership and the Labor members of the Parliament of New South Wales,with each component weighted equally. The party members were sent their ballots on 7 June and had until 21 June to return them,while the parliamentary caucus met on 29 June to cast their votes.
The Shadow Ministry of Jodi McKay was the Labor opposition from July 2019 to May 2021,opposing the Berejiklian government in the Parliament of New South Wales.
