The Rock [1] is a suburb of Telford [2] in the Telford and Wrekin borough of Shropshire, England. [3] It is part of the Lawley and Overdale civil parish. [4]
The area was originally named after the nearby colliery in 1882. [5] It was called Rock Colliery [6] and was slightly to the south of the hamlet. [7] There was also a chapel [8] [9] and engine house. The area was later incorporated into the-then new town of Telford.
The area is served by buses that connect The Rock to the nearby settlements around Telford. [10]

The town is close to the county's eastern boundary, and near the River Severn. The notable hill near the town called The Wrekin is part of the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. To the south of the town is the Ironbridge Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Places around the Ironbridge Gorge area, which were developed into the town itself, are internationally recognised as being "The Birthplace of Industry" being to a large extent constructed during the Industrial Revolution on the Shropshire Coalfield. The town is the main administrative centre for Telford and Wrekin Council.
Telford and Wrekin is a borough and unitary authority in Shropshire, England. In 1974, a non-metropolitan district of Shropshire was created called the Wrekin, named after a prominent hill to the west of Telford. In 1998, the district became a unitary authority and was renamed "Telford and Wrekin", which remains part of the Shropshire ceremonial county and shares institutions such as the Fire and Rescue Service and Community Health with the rest the county.

Spring Village is a location in the Telford and Wrekin borough in Shropshire, England. It forms part of the Dawley Hamlets civil parish alongside Aqueduct, Doseley, Horsehay, Lightmoor and Little Dawley. The village was first mentioned in 1754 and 1757 when it was associated with the Horsehay Ironworks. It later developed around the Industrial Revolution and the-then new town of Telford in the 1960s and 1970s. It once had its own chapel but this closed in 1968 and it is also home to the Telford Steam Railway, which also has a station named Spring Village. The village is primarily residential and industrial.
