In the 2015 census, the population of Tinglayan was 12,868 people, [3] with a density of 45 inhabitants per square kilometre or 120 inhabitants per square mile.
Tinglayan is famous for its local celebrity, Whang-od, who is the last mambabatok (traditional tattooist). Tourists often visit Tinglayan to see her and have their bodies tattooed. [9]
