Transelectrica is an electricity transmission system operator in Romania. It is publicly traded company with 58,69% of the shares being held by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, 13,5% by Fondul Proprietatea, and 27,81% being floated on the Bucharest Stock Exchange or held by other investors. It is listed at the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Transelectrica is organized in eight territorial transmission branches and one more branch acting as a metering operator for the electricity traded on the wholesale market. Transelectrica also has subsidiaries that take care of different administration tasks.

Transelectrica SA is the first state-owned company listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange from the programme "A Powerful Market" that the Romanian Government has initiated in order to float some public companies on the capital market. Now the company has a capitalization of approximately 1.1 billion €.

Hydro One Limited is an electricity transmission and distribution utility serving the Canadian province of Ontario. Hydro One traces its history to the early 20th century and the establishment of the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario. In October 1998, the provincial legislature passed the Energy Competition Act which restructured Ontario Hydro into separate entities responsible for electrical generation, transmission/delivery, and price management with a final goal of total privatization.

Transmission system operator

A Transmission System Operator (TSO) is an entity entrusted with transporting energy in the form of natural gas or electrical power on a national or regional level, using fixed infrastructure. The term is defined by the European Commission. The certification procedure for Transmission System Operators is listed in Article 10 of the Electricity and Gas Directives of 2009.

The Sibex-Sibiu Stock Exchange was established as a private company in December 1994, with 33.24 million lei share capital, and was the first Romanian exchange authorized by Romanian National Securities Commission (RNSC). Being the pioneer of exchange listed derivatives in Romania, at the moment Sibex is the leader on this market segment. In July 1997, Sibex has become Romania's first derivatives exchange through the implementation of futures contracts.

National Register of Historic Monuments in Romania

The National Register of Historic Monuments is the official English name of the Romania government's list of National Heritage Sites known as Monumente istorice. In Romania, these include sites, buildings, structures, and objects considered worthy of preservation due to the importance of their Romanian cultural heritage. The list, created in 2004, contains places that have been designated by the Ministry of Culture and National Patrimony of Romania and are maintained by the Romanian National Institute of Historical Monuments, as being of national historic significance.

Monument istoric, a "historic monument", is the Romanian term of designation for National Heritage Sites in Romania.

The 2012 Romanian floods were the result of an extreme weather event that struck Romania in late May 2012. Authorities reported four deaths throughout Romania. The south-east of the country, especially Vrancea County was most affected. Also affected were the provinces of Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad and Sofia in neighbouring Bulgaria.
