US Airways had a variety of aircraft liveries under both its US Airways and USAir names. Its Express and Shuttle divisions had liveries that generally closely paralleled the company-wide livery at the time. The US Airways livery has phased out, with aircraft baring it having been either retired or repainted with the American Airlines livery following with their merger. A single Airbus A321 formerly operated by US Airways currently retains the livery, as a tribute to the former airline by American.
In 1979, USAir introduced its new livery, a primarily unpainted plane, with an orange, red, and brown running strip, and a stylized USAir title, with the "A" written as a triangle. [1] The "A" was very similar to the "A" which had been used in the final Allegheny Airlines livery/logo. Multiple variations of this livery existed, and included the basic livery on a white fuselage. [2] Around this same time, several aircraft received experimental paint schemes with different striping and tail designs, though none were ultimately adopted fleet-wide. [3]
In the late 1980s, at the time of Piedmont Airlines being acquired, the company changed its colors to red, white, and blue. The livery adopted under this scheme continued to utilize a primarily unpainted plane, instead with a thick red cheatline, topped by a narrower blue one. USAir was converted to a more standard logo, written in a serif font. The tail of the livery was painted blue with three red stripes. [4]
In 1997, upon the company's re-branding as US Airways a new livery was introduced. Similar to the Jordanian flag carrier, Royal Jordanian Airlines, the upper portion of the plane was painted in very dark blue, the lower portion of the plane in light grey, separated by a white and red cheatline. The US Airways title was painted in a white serif font, accompanied by a stylized flag logo. The tail of the airplane was also painted in very dark blue to match the upper fuselage, with the stylized flag painted on the tail in grey. [5] In addition the company's MetroJet division had a livery derived from this livery, instead with a bright red in place of the blue, and the title MetroJet, in place of US Airways. The tail and underbelly of the livery remained the same as the US Airways mainline livery. [6] Additionally, during this period several planes were painted with the Star Alliance livery, which featured the Star Alliance logo on the tail of the airplane, and the title Star Alliance painted prominently on the airplane. [7] With US Airways' departure from Star Alliance, all of these aircraft were repainted into the new American Airlines livery.
After the 2005 merger of US Airways and America West Airlines, an off-white livery [8] was chosen to better meet operational needs due to the summer heat at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Las Vegas McCarran International Airport hubs inherited from America West. [9]
The livery incorporated the basic colors from the previous livery, adding curving gray stripes on the rear fuselage reminiscent of those seen on the previous America West scheme. The logos of the four airlines that formed US Airways were painted in miniature near the main cabin door.
Since January 2014, following the merger of US Airways with American Airlines, all US Airways aircraft, except for the heritage A319s and A321 noted below, were painted in American's livery. The first jet to re-enter revenue service was an Airbus A319, tail number N700UW, which previously sported a Star Alliance branding. [10]
The post-merger US Airways continued the America West tradition of logo jets and only used Airbus A319 aircraft for these special liveries. US Airways had established marketing agreements with four NFL franchises, all located in the airline's hubs or focus cities:
In addition, several airplanes were painted with heritage liveries, incorporating the look of the previous airlines, but including the US Airways titles. [24] The aircraft were also re-registered with suffixes representative of the original carriers.
Shortly after their introduction, all three received revisions to better reflect the original liveries; the Piedmont heritage plane [25] was painted in a more accurate blue, the airplane type was added to the tail to match the Piedmont standard, and the US Airways title was changed to red. [26] The Allegheny heritage plane [27] was given a more accurate grey underbelly, a more appropriately sized running strip, and the registration was moved above the window line. [28] The PSA heritage plane received a larger, more accurate smile. [29]
Two planes were painted with heritage America West liveries - one with the mid-1990s livery [30] and one with the 1980s livery heritage plane reflecting America West's original livery, with a US Airways logo on the front. [31]
Following the merger with American Airlines, except for the aircraft with the original America West livery, all of the heritage planes retained the same livery, but with American's logo on the forward fuselage replacing the US Airways titles. Additionally, American created another US Airways heritage livery post-merger: the final US Airways (2005) livery, incorporating the US Airways livery with American titles. Unlike the previous heritage liveries, which were all on Airbus A319s, this heritage livery appears on an Airbus A321 which was the final plane delivered in US Airways livery.

Regional service is operated by independent and subsidiary carriers under the brand name American Eagle.
America West Airlines was a major American airline, founded in 1981, with service commencing in 1983, and having reached US$1 billion in annual revenue in 1989, headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. At the time of its acquisition of US Airways, America West had the unique distinction of being the only post-deregulation U.S. airline still operating under its original operating certificate. Their main hub was at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, with a secondary hub at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The airline acquired US Airways in 2005 but took on the name of US Airways. America West served about 100 cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico; flights to Europe were on codeshare partners. In September 2005, the airline had 140 aircraft, with a single maintenance base at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Regional jet and turboprop flights were operated on a code sharing basis by Mesa Airlines and Chautauqua Airlines as America West Express.
Royal Jordanian Airlines, formerly known as AliaRoyal Jordanian Airlines, is the flag carrier airline of Jordan with its head office in the capital, Amman. The airline operates scheduled international services over four continents from its main base at Queen Alia International Airport, with over 500 flights per week and at least 110 daily departures. It joined the Oneworld airline alliance in 2007.
US Airways was a major American airline that operated from 1937 until its merger with American Airlines in 2015. It was originally founded in Pittsburgh as a mail delivery airline called All American Aviation, which soon became a commercial passenger airline. In 1953, it was renamed Allegheny Airlines and operated under that name for a quarter-century. In October 1979, after the passage of the Airline Deregulation Act, Allegheny Airlines changed its name to USAir. A decade later it had acquired Piedmont Airlines and Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA), and was one of the U.S.'s seven transcontinental legacy carriers. In 1997, it rebranded as US Airways.
Condor, legally incorporated as Condor Flugdienst GmbH and stylized as condor, is a German charter airline established in 1955 with Frankfurt Airport being its main base. Condor offers scheduled flights to leisure destinations and operates, from Germany, medium-haul flights to the Mediterranean Basin and the Canary Islands as well as long-haul flights to destinations in Africa, Asia, North America, South America and the Caribbean. Whereas medium-haul flights are operated from many German airports, long-haul flights usually depart from Frankfurt, with a few rotations operated from Düsseldorf and Munich. Condor also operates charter flights.
Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) was an American airline headquartered in San Diego, California, that operated from 1949 to 1998. It was the first large discount airline in the United States. PSA called itself "The World's Friendliest Airline" and painted a smile on the nose of its airplanes, the PSA Grinningbirds. Opinion L.A. of the Los Angeles Times called PSA "practically the unofficial flag carrier airline of California for almost forty years."
Indian Airlines was a division of Air India Limited. It was based in Delhi and focused primarily on domestic routes, along with several international services to neighbouring countries in Asia. It was a division of Air India Limited after merger of eight pre-Independence domestic airlines.
US Airways Shuttle was the brand name for US Airways' hourly air shuttle service operating in the Northeastern United States. It served Logan International Airport in Boston, LaGuardia Airport in New York City, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.
Allegheny Airlines was an American airline that operated out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, from 1952 to 1979 with routes primarily located in the eastern U.S. It was the forerunner of USAir which was subsequently renamed US Airways, which itself merged with American Airlines. Its headquarters were at Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.
Afriqiyah Airways is a state-owned airline based in Tripoli, Libya. Before the 17 February 2011 revolution, it operated domestic services between Tripoli and Benghazi, and international scheduled services to over 25 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East; since the end of the war, it has been seeking to rebuild its business. Afriqiyah Airways' main base is technically Tripoli International Airport, although it has been closed since 2014 and flights are operating as much as possible from other airports.
Royal Aviation was the parent of Canadian scheduled passenger and charter airline, Royal Airlines, which was based in Montreal Dorval Airport. The airline was acquired in 2001 by Canada 3000, which in turn went bankrupt in the months following the events of September 11, 2001.

Piedmont Airlines was an American airline from 1948 to 1989, when it was acquired by and merged into USAir. Its headquarters were at One Piedmont Plaza in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a building that is now part of Wake Forest University.

The Boeing 737 Classic is a series of narrow-body airliners produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, the second generation of the Boeing 737 series of aircraft. Development began in 1979 and the first variant, the 737-300, first flew in February 1984 and entered service that December. The stretched 737-400 first flew in February 1988 and entered service later that year. The shortest variant, the 737-500, first flew in June 1989 and entered service in 1990.
British Airways (BA), the United Kingdom's national airline, was formed in 1974 with the merger of the two largest UK airlines, British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) and British European Airways (BEA), and including also two smaller regional airlines, Cambrian Airways and Northeast Airlines. The merger was the completion of a consolidation process started in 1971 with the establishment of the British Airways Board, a body created by the British government to control the operations and finances of BOAC and BEA, which initially continued to exist as separate entities.

Alaska Airlines operates a mainline fleet consisting primarily of Boeing 737 series aircraft, with some Airbus A320 family aircraft formerly operated by Virgin America. Regional flights are operated with Alaska branded De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 and Embraer 175 planes by the Alaska-owned regional airline Horizon Air and contractor SkyWest Airlines.
