Vanessa Williams (born 1990) is a Sierra Leonean model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned as the winner of the 2012 edition of the Miss Sierra Leone pageant. [1]
Born in a Freetown, Sierra Leone, Williams studied for a bachelor's degree at the University of Sierra Leone. [2]
Whilst representing Western Area Urban District, Williams was crowned winner of the 2012 edition of Miss Sierra Leone that was held on 12 June at the Bintumani Conference Centre in Freetown. This result qualified her to represent her country at the Miss World 2012 pageant held on 18 August at Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. [1] [2]

Miss America is an annual competition that is open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 and 25. The Miss World 1988 was hosted by Peter Marshall, who has hosted other Miss World competitions such as Miss World 1986, and Alexandra Bastedo, with musical performances by Koreana and 1970s American pop musician Donny Osmond.

It was the second time where Puerto Rico won Miss World, after Wilnelia Merced in 1975.

Katherine Espín of Ecuador crowned her successor Karen Ibasco of the Philippines at the end of the event. Ibasco's crowning marks the fourth time the Philippines won the Miss Earth title—the most in the pageant's history.

Kevin Liliana from Indonesia crowned her successor Mariem Velazco from Venezuela at the end of the event. This marks Venezuela's eighth victory at Miss International - the most in the pageant's history. This is the third time in Miss International history that the finals night saw the return of the previous year's runners-up to crown their respective successors.
