Veronica Sims is an American politician and non-profit administrator serving as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from the 33rd district since 2024. She was appointed to replace Tavia Galonski,who resigned from office. [1] She previously served as a member of the Akron Public Schools school board from the At-large district and as the president of the Summit County Council. [2] [3]
Sims earned a B.S degree. in political science and criminal justice and a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Akron. She worked as the special projects and government affairs administrator for Akron Summit Community Action Inc. [2]
Sims was elected to the Akron Public Schools school board in 2013 with 15.8% of the vote,finishing in third place. [4]
Summit County is an urban county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census,the population was 540,428,making it the fourth-most populous county in Ohio. Its county seat and largest city is Akron. The county was formed on March 3,1840,from portions of Medina,Portage and Stark Counties. It was named Summit County because the highest elevation on the Ohio and Erie Canal is located in the county.

Johnson defeated Milkovich with 54% of the vote and won the general election with 61% of the vote. She held the seat until 2017,when she resigned to work for the Summit County Executive.
Emilia Strong Sykes is an American politician who is the U.S. representative for Ohio's 13th congressional district. A member of the Democratic Party,she formerly represented the 34th district of the Ohio House of Representatives,which consists of portions of the Akron area. From 2019 until 2021,she also served as minority leader of that chamber.
