The men's tournament in volleyball at the 2012 Summer Olympics was the 13th edition of the event at the Summer Olympics, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in London, United Kingdom from 29 July to 12 August 2012. [1]

Russia won the gold medal in a 3–2 victory against Brazil.

The 2011 FIVB Men's World Cup was held from 20 November to 4 December 2011 in Japan. The tournament was the first step in the qualification process for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England, United Kingdom. The top three teams qualified for the Olympics, and joined Great Britain as they had already secured a berth as the host country.

The European Qualification Tournament for the 2016 Men's Olympic Volleyball Tournament was held in Berlin, Germany from 5 to 10 January 2016. Russia won the tournament by beating France 3–1, and qualified for the Summer Olympics. Sergey Tetyukhin was selected the most valuable player.

The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League was the inaugural edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League, a new annual international men's volleyball tournament contested by 16 national teams that replaced the former World League in the international calendar. The competition was held between May and July 2018, and the final round took place in the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Lille metropolitan area, France.

The 2018 Asian Girls' U17 Volleyball Championship, referred to as the 2018 SMM Est Cola Asian Girls' U17 Volleyball Championship for sponsorship reasons, was the twelfth edition of the Asian Girls' U17 Volleyball Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA) for the girls' under-17 national teams of Asia. It was originally scheduled to take place from 25 July to 8 August 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the 2020 Summer Olympics would be delayed to 2021. Because of this pandemic, all matches were played behind closed doors.

The 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship was the twentieth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship, contested by the men's national teams under the age of 21 of the members of the FIVB, the sport's global governing body. The tournament was held in Riffa, Bahrain from 18 to 27 July 2019. 16 teams from the 5 confederations competed in the tournament.

The 2020 Women's Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament is a volleyball tournament for women's national teams organised by Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), to be held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 7 to 12 January 2020. 8 teams will play in the tournament, where the winners will qualify to the 2020 women's Olympic volleyball tournament.

The European Qualification Tournament for the 2020 Men's Olympic Volleyball Tournament was a volleyball tournament for men's national teams held in Berlin, Germany from 5 to 10 January 2020. Eight teams played in the tournament and the winners France qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The 2020 Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship was the 21st edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship, contested by the men's national teams under the age of 21 of the members of the FIVB, the sport's global governing body. The tournament was held in Italy and Bulgaria from 23 September to 3 October 2021. For the first time, the tournament was jointly hosted by more than one country.

The women's tournament in volleyball at the 2024 Summer Olympics will be the 16th edition of the event at the Summer Olympics, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It will be held in Paris, France from 27 July to 10 August 2024. This is the first time in the history of the Olympic volleyball competition, each team participating in the Games will be entitled to include one non-competing (AP) athlete to replace an athlete for medical reasons. As such, team rosters will increase from 12 to 13 athletes.
