Walcott Independent School District is a private school district in southwestern Deaf Smith County, Texas (USA).

Deaf Smith County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 19,372. The county seat is Hereford, which is known as the "Beef Capital of the World". The county was created in 1876 and later organized in 1890.

The district has one school - Walcott Elementary - that serves students in grades pre-kindergarten through six. Secondary school students living in the district attend Hereford Junior High and Hereford High School.

The Walcott Elementary was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2004 and 2018. [1]

In 2009, the school district was rated "exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency. [2]

Travis State Office Building in downtown Austin. Mike Morath, formerly a member of the Dallas Independent School District's board of trustees, was appointed commissioner of education by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Dec. 14, 2015, and began serving on Jan. 4, 2016.
