Leighton Thomas Rees was a Welsh professional darts player. He was the first BDO World Professional Darts Champion, having won the inaugural 1978 BDO World Darts Championship, and was a former World No. 1 player. The Welsh Open is a darts tournament organised by the World Darts Federation and affiliated with the British Darts Organisation which has been staged annually since 1974. In 2008 the tournament was televised in the United Kingdom for the first time on Setanta Sports as part of the BDO's new Grand Prix series. From 1987 the event has been staged at the Pontins holiday camp in Prestatyn, North Wales. The singles tournaments are sponsored by Red Dragon Sports and Pontins sponsor the other events.

Willy van de Wiel is a Dutch former professional darts player.

Alan Norris is an English darts player. He was the runner-up at the 2014 BDO World Darts Championship and also lost in the final of the 2012 Zuiderduin Masters, with Stephen Bunting prevailing on both occasions. In 2015, he switched to the PDC and, after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2016 World Championship, he was named the PDC Best Newcomer of the year.

The Wales Masters was an annual Welsh darts tournament that inaugurated in 2007 until 2019.

The BDO International Grand Prix Series was a series of tournaments in the sport of darts. Organised by the British Darts Organisation (BDO), the series was made up of five already established 'stand-alone' darts tournaments that were played under a generic ‘umbrella’ format. The five darts tournaments were; the BDO British Classic, the BDO British Open, the BDO Gold Cup, the BDO International Open and the BDO Welsh Open. The BDO awarded points in the men's singles at each event from the quarter-final to final stages. After all five tournaments were completed, the person who accumulated the most points over the five tournaments would be declared the overall winner and winner of the BDO International Grand Prix Series.

Matthew Francis Dean Reynolds is a Welsh former professional darts player.

James Hurrell is an English professional darts player who currently plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is a WDF World Cup and WDF Europe Cup medalist. In January 2022, he became the leader of the World Darts Federation ranking and held this position until November 2022.

Beau Greaves is an English darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. She is the current back-to-back two-time ladies' world champion having won the 2022 WDF World Darts Championship and 2023 WDF World Darts Championship and the current back-to-back PDC Women's World Matchplay Champion having won the event in 2023 and 2024.

2020 BDO & WDF season of darts comprises every tournament of British Darts Organisation and World Darts Federation. The category or prize money of the tournaments may be vary depending on darts organization.

The 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championship was the first World Championship organised by the World Darts Federation (WDF). The tournament was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey, England, which hosted the now-defunct BDO World Darts Championship from 1986 to 2019. The titles were won by Neil Duff in the men's competition, and Beau Greaves in the women's.

Lorraine Hyde is a Scottish female professional darts player who currently plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Her biggest achievement to date was won the British Classic. She took part in the WDF World Cup and WDF Europe Cup for several times, and also participated in the WDF World Darts Championship.
