The British Darts Organisation organised many darts tournaments each year including Major titles such as the Lakeside World Professional Championship and the Winmau World Masters until its demise in September 2020. The Tournaments listed below were recognised BDO ranking events for the BDO Invitational Table point allocation system [1] that determined players qualification for its Major tournament finals. The BDO's own tournaments are in bold.
The BDO Invitational Table relates only to registered playing members of the BDO, who comply with BDO and World Darts Federation (WDF) eligibility rules including terms and conditions of the 1997 Tomlin Order. The BDO awards points depending on player's performances within each of its events. Twenty-seven points are awarded to the champion of each its three Major Events – The Lakeside World Professional Championship, The Bavaria World Darts Trophy and the Winmau World Masters. Lower points are awarded for each round of the tournament reached. Other events are placed into Category A+, A, B, C and D based on the prize-pool and number of payouts, with points for placings slowly decreasing. [2] Only the best 12 placings are added for the players ranking that define seedings and qualification for events it stages. The BDO Invitational rankings sees the points wiped after the seedings for the World Championship are decided from the following 94 tournaments:
Since the formation of the BDO rankings in 1974 the method used to calculate a player's ranking points has changed several times.
Points are currently awarded as follows:

The World Professional Darts Championship is one of the most important tournaments in the darts calendar. Originally held as an annual event between 1978 and 1993, players then broke off into two separate organisations after a controversial split in the game. Each organisation, the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) then arranged their own World Championships, the former in January the latter in December. As a result, there was no longer a unified world champion in the sport for nearly three decades.
The World Masters is a darts tournament, initially organised by the British Darts Organisation from 1974 and later by the World Darts Federation. It is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments. The tournament was originally sponsored by Phonogram before changing its sponsor in 1975 to darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was originally contested as the best of 5 legs before later transitioning to the set format.
The Topic International Darts League was a darts tournament held at the Triavium in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Raymond van Barneveld dominated the tournament, held in his home country, winning it on three of the five occasions it was held. Gary Anderson was the final champion, having claimed the title in 2007, when the tournament also became the first major event to witness two nine dart finishes.
