Wayne Laroche is an American politician. He serves as a Republican member for the Franklin-5 district of the Vermont House of Representatives. [1]
Laroche was born in Sheldon,Vermont. [1] He attended Bellows Free Academy,graduating in 1968. [1] Laroche also attended the University of Maine,where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. He received a Master of Science from California State Polytechnic University in 1986. [1]
Laroche was a marine biologist studying the developmental biology of marine fish at universities. [1] In the 2000s,he was appointed by the 80th Governor of Vermont,Jim Douglas,to serve as the commissioner for the Vermont Department of Wildlife. [1] He served for eight years. [1]
In 2022,Laroche was appointed by Phil Scott to represent the Franklin-5 district of the Vermont House of Representatives following the resignation of Paul Martin. [2] [3] [4]

He previously served two terms as the 82nd lieutenant governor of Vermont,from 2017 to 2021. On May 28,2020,he officially announced his candidacy but stated that he would not campaign,maintain a campaign staff,or fundraise because of the state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Vermont. The primary was held on August 11. Scott won re-election to a third term in a landslide,defeating Progressive and Democratic nominee,Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman.
