The Women's African Volleyball Clubs Championship is an international women's club volleyball competition organized by the African Volleyball Confederation. It is Africa's most important continental women's club volleyball competition and was first contested in 1986. It was not held for a few years during the 1990s, but tournaments have been held yearly since 1997.
Winners of the competition qualified as continental champions for the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship between 2010 and 2014.

Nada Meawad is an Egyptian indoor and beach volleyball player, a member of the Egypt women's national volleyball team. She made her international debut when she was 15 years old on the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship in Thailand. She started playing in El Shams Club at the age of five years old. Nada Meawad and her teammate Doaa Elghobashy were the first ever African team to take part in the FIVB beach volleyball Olympic Games in 2016. The competition was first contested in 1989 in Italy. It was not held between 1993 and 2008, but since 2009, the competition has been held every year, and has been hosted by Qatar and Brazil except in 2017 and 2018 where both hosted by Poland.
The FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship is an international women's club volleyball competition organised by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The competition was first contested in 1991 in Brazil. It was not held between 1995 and 2009, but since 2010, the competition has been held every year, and has been hosted by Qatar, Switzerland, the Philippines, Japan, China and Turkey. The competition was held in Zhejiang Province of China in 2018 and 2019. After the 2020 championship was cancelled due to corona virus pandemic, the competition was held in Turkey in 2021.

The 2017 Women's African Nations Championship was the 18th edition of the Women's African Volleyball Championship organised by Africa's governing volleyball body, the Confédération Africaine de Volleyball. Held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, the tournament took place from 7 to 14 October 2017. The top two teams, who had registered with FIVB for the 2018 World Championship, qualify to represent Africa in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship.

The competition was first contested in 1999 in Thailand. It was not held in 2003 and 2020 due to 2002–2004 SARS outbreak and COVID-19 pandemic respectively.
