The World Port Tournament is an international baseball tournament held at the Neptunus Familiestadion in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The tournament has been held every other year (2005 excluded) in odd-numbered years since 1985, alternating with the Haarlem Baseball Week.

Contents

The tournament was created by Bram Peper, who was asked by Cuban Dr. Oscar Ferdinand Mell to organize an international baseball tournament, between national baseball teams all over the world, in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The 2017 World Port Tournament, the sixteenth edition of the event, was won by Chinese Taipei, winning the tournament the second time in history.

South Korea national baseball team national sports team

The South Korean national baseball team is the national baseball team of South Korea. It won the Baseball World Cup in 1982, and participated in the Summer Olympic Games of 1984, 1988, 1996, and 2000. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, it won the gold medal in a final victory against Cuba. The 2007 World Port Tournament was an international baseball competition held at the DOOR Neptunus Familiestadion in Rotterdam, the Netherlands from August 2–12, 2007. It was the 11th edition of the tournament and featured teams from Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Japan, the Netherlands and the United States.

Chinese Taipei national baseball team national sports team

The Chinese Taipei baseball team is the national team of Taiwan. It is governed by the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association. The team is ranked fourth in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation, behind Japan, the United States, and South Korea respectively. The team is usually made up of professionals from Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League, Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, and Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball from the United States.

Eight teams will qualify for the Olympic baseball tournament. The host nation qualifies automatically. Additionally, two teams will qualify from the American qualifying tournament, and one team will qualify from both the European and Asian qualifying tournaments. The field will be rounded out by the top three teams from the world Olympic qualifying tournament.

The XXXVII International Baseball Federation (IBAF) Baseball World Cup was held in Taiwan from November 6 through November 18, 2007. Four stadiums hosted. Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium and Taichung Baseball Field in Taichung City, Tianmu Baseball Stadium in Taipei City and Sinjhuang City all played host to the tournament. Sixteen teams participated. At one time, Venezuela’s participation was in question due to possible sanctions to be considered by the International Baseball Federation in the wake of their refusal to grant visas to a youth team from Taichung to participate in the Youth World Baseball championships in August, 2007, but they were allowed to participate. China was originally scheduled to participate in Pool B, but dropped out and was replaced by Thailand, who placed fifth behind China at the Asian Games.

The 2009 World Port Tournament is an international baseball competition held at the DOOR Neptunus Familiestadion in Rotterdam, The Netherlands from July 2–12, 2009. It will be the 12th edition of the tournament and will feature teams from Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Japan and the Netherlands.

The Australia national baseball team has participated in nine of the International Baseball Federation World Cup tournaments. Australia has made it to the quarter finals of a tournament three times—1998, 2007 and 2009— and its best result was in the most recent tournament held in 2009, in which Australia placed 5th.

The 2011 World Port Tournament was an international baseball competition held at the Neptunus Family Stadium in Rotterdam, the Netherlands from June 23 to July 3, 2011. It was the 13th edition of the tournament.

The 2011 World Youth Baseball Championship was an under-16 international baseball competition held in Lagos de Moreno, Mexico from August 19 to August 28, 2011. This event is considered a test event for the 2011 Pan American Games baseball event.

The U-12 Baseball World Cup is the under-12 baseball world championship sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and its predecessor the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), and is the most elite and highest level of competition in its age category. The U-12 Baseball World Championship is scheduled to be held every two years and launched in 2011 in Taipei, Taiwan as the "12U Baseball World Championship".

2011 12U Baseball World Championship

The 2011 12U Baseball World Championship was an under-12 international baseball tournament held from July 8 to July 17, 2011 in Taipei City, Taiwan. It was the first 12U Baseball World Championship ever and was won by the host, Chinese Taipei.

Pool A of the first round of the 2017 World Baseball Classic was held at Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul, South Korea from March 6 to 9, 2017, between Israel and the Netherlands and South Korea and Taiwan. Pool A was a round-robin tournament. Each team played the other three teams once, with the top two teams advancing to Pool E.

The 2018 Haarlem Baseball Week was an international baseball competition held at the Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem, the Netherlands from 13–22 July 2018. It was the 29th edition of the tournament.

Six national teams will qualify to compete in baseball at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. As host, Japan automatically qualified. Israel also qualified, by winning the Africa/Europe Qualifying Event in September 2019.
