It is where the east–west Goyder Highway crosses the former Gladstone-Balaklava railway, and about a kilometre east of the south–north Horrocks Highway, 188 kilometres (117 mi) north of Adelaide. The railway was built as a narrow gauge in 1894 and converted to broad gauge in 1927. The railway had been closed by 1993.

The Mungar Junction to Monto railway line is a 267-kilometre (166 mi) railway in Queensland, Australia. Progressively opened in eleven stages between 1889 and 1928 the line branched from the North Coast line at Mungar Junction a short distance west of Maryborough and followed a westerly route towards Biggenden and Gayndah before turning north via Mundubbera and Eidsvold to Monto. It is also known as the Gayndah Monto Branch Railway. In 2012, the line was officially closed.

Gladstone–Mount Larcom Road is a state-controlled regional road. As part of State Route 58 it provides an alternate route between Mount Larcom and Benaraby. It is also part of the shortest route from Gladstone to the north of the state.
