Yuvan Shankar Raja made his debut in the Indian music industry with the 1997 Tamil film Aravindhan . He has composed and produced film scores, soundtracks and songs for more than 170 films in various languages, predominantly in Tamil films apart from a few Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films. [1]

Yuvan Shankar Raja, rechristened post religious conversion as Abdul Haliq is an Indian composer and playback singer, who continues to use his birth name professionally. He mainly scores music for Tamil films along with few Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi films. Considered a versatile composer, he is particularly known for his use of Western music elements and often credited with having introduced hip hop to the Tamil film and music industry and started the "era of remixes" in Tamil Nadu which included mixed EDM and jazz. Venkat Kumar Gangai Amaren, better known by his stage name Venkat Prabhu, is an Indian film director, actor and playback singer in Tamil cinema. In addition, he also worked in Telugu Cinema. After completing his education, he began pursuing an acting career, with his first three ventures featuring him in a starring role, failing to release, following which he began appearing in character roles.

<i>Paruthiveeran</i> 2007 film by Ameer Sultan

Paruthiveeran is a 2007 Indian Tamil-language romantic action drama film written and directed by Ameer. The film stars Karthi in his feature film debut as the title character, with Priyamani as the female lead and Ponvannan, Saravanan, Ganja Karuppu, Sampath Raj, and Sujatha Sivakumar playing supporting roles. Produced by Ameer, it features a soundtrack and score composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematograhy by Ramji and editing by Raja Mohammad.

Thottal Poo Malarum is a 2007 Indian Tamil-language romance film written and directed by P. Vasu, starring his son Sakthi Vasu and Gowri Munjal, two newcomers. Rajkiran, Sukanya, Nassar, Vadivelu and Santhanam played supporting roles. The music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film was released on 3 August 2007 and became an average grosser. The film's title is based on a song from Padagotti (1964).

<i>Kadhal 2 Kalyanam</i> Unreleased film directed by Milind Rau

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is an unreleased Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by newcomer Milind Rau that stars debutante Sathya, brother of Tamil actor Arya, and Ramya, whilst, Jayashree, Nagendra Prasad, Kasthuri and Anuja Iyer play pivotal roles. Noted film critic Baradwaj Rangan had written the dialogues, while Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the film's score and soundtrack. The cinematography and editing were handled by P. S. Vinod and Leo John Paul, respectively. Pre-production works began by mid-2008, while the filming continued for over one year, being completed by July 2010. The film was jointly produced by Mirchi Movies and East Coast Entertainment, who are now not in the film-making business. Hence the movie remains unreleased.

<i>Pathinaaru</i> 2011 Indian film

Pathinaaru (transl. Sixteen) is a 2011 Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Sabapathy Dekshinamurthy, who previously directed the films V.I.P (1997), Punnagai Poove (2003) and A Aa E Ee (2009). It stars Shiva and Madhu Shalini. The film's background score and soundtrack was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. After being launched in October 2008 under the title 16, the film was shot for over one year, wrapping in early 2010. A year after completion, Kalaipuli S. Thanu bought the distribution rights and released the film on 28 January 2011 under his V. Creations banner. However, it was financially unsuccessful and disappeared without a trace from the box office. Despite that, it was remade as Jolly Boy in Kannada language.

<i>Goa</i> (soundtrack) 2010 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Goa is the soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja to the 2010 romantic comedy film of the same name, directed by Venkat Prabhu, and produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios, starring Jai, Vaibhav, Premji Amaran, Sneha, Piaa Bajpai and Melanie Marie Jobstreibitzer in prominent roles.

<i>Thanga Meenkal</i> 2013 Indian film

Thanga Meenkal is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Ram in his second directorial venture after Kattradhu Thamizh. The story was written by Ram and his daughter Shri Sankara Gomathy Ram, with the former, besides, played the lead role as well alongside newcomers Sadhana and Shelly Kishore. The film is jointly produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon and J. Satish Kumar under the banners Photon Kathaas and JSK Film Corporation, respectively.

<i>Vaanam</i> (soundtrack) 2011 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Vaanam is the soundtrack album composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja for the 2011 Tamil film of the same name directed by Krish and stars Silambarasan, Bharath, Anushka Shetty, Santhanam, Sonia Agarwal and Saranya Ponvannan. The film featured five songs with the lyrics of Silambarasan, Yuvan, Abhishek–Lawrence and Na. Muthukumar.

"Idhu Varai" is a song from the 2010 Tamil feature film Goa, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and performed by Andrea Jeremiah and Ajeesh, the winner of the second season of the reality-based singing competition Airtel Super Singer. The song, with lyrics by Gangai Amaran, was released as part of the soundtrack album of the film on 6 January 2010. The song became one of the most popular songs in 2010.

<i>Mankatha</i> (soundtrack) 2011 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Mankatha is the soundtrack album, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, to the 2011 film of the same name, directed by Venkat Prabhu starring Ajith Kumar. The album features eight tracks, with lyrics penned by Vaali, Gangai Amaran, and Niranjan Bharathi. Following a number of postponements, it was finally released on 10 August 2011 by Sony Music India.

<i>Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer</i> 2013 Indian film

Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer is a 2013 Indian Tamil language romantic drama film directed by Suseenthiran. It features debutant Santhosh Ramesh and Manisha Yadav of Vazhakku Enn 18/9 fame in the lead roles. It is produced by Nallu Studios and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Cinematography is by Soorya A. R., editing by Antony, stunts by Anal Arasu, lyrics by Vaali and Yugabharathi. The film released with highly positive reviews. The film was remade in Kannada as Naduve Antaravirali (2018).

<i>Billa II</i> (soundtrack) 2012 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Billa II is the soundtrack album, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, for the 2012 film of the same name, directed by Chakri Toleti that stars Ajith Kumar as the title character. The album consists of six tracks; five songs and a theme music track. Na. Muthukumar penned all lyrics for the songs.

<i>Sarvam</i> (soundtrack) 2009 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Sarvam is the soundtrack album for the 2009 Indian Tamil-language romantic thriller film of the same name starring Arya and Trisha directed by Vishnuvardhan. The film score and the soundtrack were composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who renewed his previous association with Vishnuvardhan, for whom he had earlier created successful musical albums in Arinthum Ariyamalum (2005), Pattiyal (2006) and Billa (2007). The album featuring five songs had lyrics written by Pa. Vijay, which released on 14 February 2009 to positive response.

<i>Moondru Per Moondru Kadal</i> (soundtrack) 2013 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Moondru Per Moondru Kadal is the soundtrack album for 2013 Indian Tamil-language romance film of the same name starring Arjun, Cheran, Vimal, Surveen Chawla, Muktha Bhanu and Lasini. The film features music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Vasanth hired him as the composer, with whom he had previously worked in Poovellam Kettuppar (1999) and his last project Satham Podathey (2007).

<i>Avan Ivan</i> (soundtrack) 2011 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

The soundtrack for the 2011 Tamil-language film Avan Ivan features five songs composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and lyrics written by Na. Muthukumar. The film, starring Vishal and Arya, is directed by Bala and produced by AGS Entertainment. The soundtrack accompanies ethnic instrumentation with elements of folk and orchestral music which had been recorded live. The album was released by Sony Music India on 18 April 2011 and met with positive reviews from critics.

Billa (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album to the 2007 film of the same name directed by Vishnuvardhan starring Ajith Kumar, Nayanthara and Namitha. It is a remake of the eponymous 1980 Tamil film which itself is based on the Hindi film Don (1978). Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the musical score and soundtrack with the lyrics written by Pa. Vijay. The soundtrack consisted of two songs from the original counterpart remixed for the film, three original songs and a theme music. It was released on 21 November 2007 to critical and commercial success.

<i>Yogi</i> (soundtrack) 2009 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yogi is the soundtrack album to the 2009 film of the same name directed by Subramaniam Siva starring director Ameer Sultan in his debut as a lead actor. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the six-song soundtrack with lyrics written by Snehan. Recorded during September 2007 – 2008, the production of the soundtrack delayed for a year and was released on 13 September 2009 through the Sony Music India label to positive reviews from critics.

<i>Massu Engira Masilamani</i> (soundtrack) 2015 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Masss is the soundtrack album to the 2015 film Massu Engira Masilamani directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Studio Green, starring Suriya, Nayanthara, Pranitha Subhash, Premgi Amaren, Parthiban and Samuthirakani. Prabhu's norm collaborator Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the film's soundtrack and score while Gangai Amaran, Madhan Karky and Viveka wrote the lyrics.

<i>Chennai 600028</i> (soundtrack) 2007 soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja

Chennai 600028 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album to the 2007 film of the same name directed by Venkat Prabhu in his directorial debut. The album featured nine songs composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and arranged by Premgi Amaren who also composed the film score; lyrics for the songs were written by Gangai Amaran, Vaali and Yuvan himself. The soundtrack was released twice: first in India on 19 February 2007, followed by a release in Singapore and Malaysia four days later. The album was a critical and commercial success, with the songs achieving popularity amongst listeners.
