The GLAAD Media Award is a US accolade bestowed by GLAAD to recognize and honor various branches of the media for their outstanding representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives. In addition to film and television, the Awards also recognize achievements in other branches of the media and arts, including theatre, music, journalism and advertising.

The9th Annual Streamy Awards was the ninth installment of the Streamy Awards honoring the best in American streaming television series and their creators. The awards was split into three sections with different themes: the main Streamy Awards, the second annual Streamys Brand Awards, and the Third Annual Streamys Purpose Awards. The main ceremony was streamed live on YouTube from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on December 13, 2019. It was the first Streamy Awards ceremony to run without a host, instead featuring segments from online content creators to highlight the diversity of the industry. The show also highlighted international creators with the addition of multiple international categories and added a new Technology category.
The 12th Shorty Awards were held on May 3, 2020 via an online live stream event. The event was originally scheduled to be held at 1515 Broadway Theater in New York City, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held virtually. The digital show was hosted by American actor and comedian J. B. Smoove, and Fetty Wap provided a musical performance. The show was streamed on Periscope and YouTube with presenters including Lindsey Vonn, Bobby Berk and Jaime Camil.
