The 1938 Yellow River flood was a man-made flood from June 1938 to January 1947 created by the Chinese National Army's intentional destruction of dikes (levees) on the Yellow River. The first wave of floods hit Zhongmu County on 13 June 1938.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Wang Lingji</span>

Wang Lingji was a Kuomintang general from Sichuan. In 1913, he fought against the Beiyang government and the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. He commanded the 30th Army Group from April 1938 to October 1945. He fought against the Imperial Japanese Army in Hubei; Jiangxi and Hunan.

Gao Shuxun sometimes written Kao Shu-hsun, was a KMT general from Zhili Province.

The Tsinghua Bamboo Strips are a collection of Chinese texts dating to the Warring States period and written in ink on strips of bamboo, that were acquired in 2008 by Tsinghua University, China. The texts were obtained by illegal excavation, probably of a tomb in the area of Hubei or Hunan province, and were then acquired and donated to the university by an alumnus. The very large size of the collection and the significance of the texts for scholarship make it one of the most important discoveries of early Chinese texts to date.

Jack C.K. Teng, was a Chinese educator, writer, politician, diplomat and Olympic pioneer. He is best known as the Chairman of the Chinese National Olympic Committee during the 1960 Summer Olympics, the first time a Chinese athlete won an Olympic medal.

Chen Mingshu was a Chinese general and politician. A Hakka from Hepu, Guangxi, he graduated from Baoding Military Academy and participated in the Northern Expedition. He was briefly premier after Chiang Kai-shek stepped down in December 1931. He took part in the Battle of Shanghai (1932), defending the city against the Japanese Empire.

Tang Liangli was a journalist and politician in the Republic of China. He was an important politician during the Wang Jingwei regime. He was an overseas Chinese who was born in Java, Indonesia, and whose family place of origin was Fujian. His Indonesian name was Tubagus Pranata Tirtawidjaya.

Wang Yitang was a politician and military leader in the Qing Dynasty and Republic of China. He belonged to the Anhui clique and formed the Anfu Club (安福俱樂部). Later he became an important politician in the Provisional Government of the Republic of China and the Reorganized National Government of the Republic of China. His former name was Zhiyang (志洋) and his courtesy names were Shenwu (慎吾) and Shengong (什公). Later, his name was changed to Geng (賡) while his courtesy name was changed to Yitang (一堂). He was also known by his art name Yitang (揖唐). He was born in Hefei, Anhui.

The Apostolic Nunciature to China is the diplomatic mission of the Holy See to the Republic of China. The Republic of China is now more commonly referred to as “Taiwan”. Chen Shufan was a Chinese general active during the early Republican period in China. He was a prominent general of the Anhui Clique and won the Order of Rank and Merit and Order of Wen-Hu.

The Battle of Shuangqiaozhen was fought from March 6 to March 12, 1931, between the 34th Division of the Army of the Kuomintang Nationalist Government and the Fourth Red Army of the Chinese Communist Party. It took place during the second encirclement campaign against the Eyuwan Soviet. The commander of the 34th Division, Major General Yue was captured by the communists. In August 1932, Yue was executed by firing squad on the orders of Zhang Guotao and posthumously promoted to full general.

Yu Guangyuan was a Chinese economist, philosopher, and a senior official of the People's Republic of China. Yu was recognized as one of the first proponents of the socialist market-oriented economic system in China and the theory of "the Primary Stage of Socialism". He was a close adviser of and speech-writer for the Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Zheng Yanfen</span>

Zheng Yanfen was a Chinese-born politician affiliated with the Kuomintang. He worked with the League of Nations and supported the Nationalist government. After the government of the Republic of China moved to Taiwan, Zheng led the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission, was the Minister of Justice, and served as Secretary-General to the President.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Xie Guansheng</span> Chinese jurist and politician

Xie Shouchang known by his courtesy name Xie Guansheng (謝冠生) was a Chinese jurist who served as Minister of Justice from 1937 to 1948. After the government of the Republic of China moved to Taiwan, Xie was President of the Judicial Yuan 1958 to 1971.

Chinese traditional music includes various music genres which have been inherited for generations in China. Specifically, this term refers to the music genres originated in or before Qing dynasty. According to the appearance, the genres can be classified into instrumental ensemble, instrumental solo, theatre, shuochang, dance music and song. It is now the primary classification in both research and education, although some genres contain different forms of performance and thus do not belong to a single category. The genres could also be classified into literati music, folk music, religious music and palace music, according to their cultural connotations or purpose.

The battle in Liuzhou took place from June 7 to 18, 1929. The location was in central Guangxi, China. The two warring parties in Liuzhou were Hunan Army and Guangxi Army on the other.
