[2] The championship was won by Sweden (24 points) who beat Great Britain (21 points) and Norway (16 points). [3] Although unofficial at the time it is now regarded as being a major event and is listed in all speedway lists. [4]

From 1994 it was merged with the World Team Cup to create the Speedway World Cup, which held its final edition in 2017.

The Illerstadion is a 9,0000 capacity multi-use stadium in Kempten, Germany. The stadium is located on the Illerdamm 10 road, on the east side of the River Iller in the northern area of the town. The stadium hosts the football team FC Kempten and the American football team the Allgäu Comets and also has facilities for athletics.
