The ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup is an international cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) contested by national under-19 teams. First contested in 1988, as the Youth Cricket World Cup, it was not staged again until 1998. Since then, the World Cup has been held as a biennial event, organised by the ICC. The tournament was originally going to be held in Nepal, but was moved to Malaysia due to the April 2015 earthquake. Nepal defeated Ireland in the tournament final to qualify for the 2016 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh. In January 2016, Australia withdrew their team from the World Cup and Ireland, as runners-up in the qualifier, replaced them.

It was the twelfth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the third to be held in New Zealand after the 2002 and the 2010 events. New Zealand became the first country to host the event thrice. The opening ceremony took place on 7 January 2018. The West Indies were the defending champions. However, they failed to defend their title, after losing their first two group fixtures.

For his performance, he was named the man of the match.
Aryan Dutt is a Dutch cricketer who plays for the Netherlands national cricket team as a right-arm off spin bowler. In March 2021, he was named in the Netherlands Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2020–21 Nepal Tri-Nation Series. The Dutch coach, Ryan Campbell, described Dutt as an exciting prospect. He made his T20I debut against Nepal, on 17 April 2021. Prior to his call-up to the national side, Dutt had also played at the under-18 and under-19 level for the Netherlands.
