Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 11 June 2017. [1]
The elections were triggered by a motion of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Isa Mustafa on 10 May 2017 by a vote of 78–34. [2] The motion had been proposed by the Social Democratic Initiative over government failures to meet their campaign promises. [2] The constitution requires fresh elections to be held by 18 June 2017.
The 120 members of the Assembly are elected by open list proportional representation, with 20 seats reserved for national minorities. [3]

No party obtained enough seats to form government alone. However, PDK coalition leader Ramush Haradinaj stated that he has the necessary votes to form a government, counting on the 39 seats of his coalition, the 20 seats of the ethnic minorities and some members of the LDK coalition. [4]
After several unsuccessful attempts to elect a new Chairman of the Assembly and a new Prime Minister, on 4 August Behgjet Pacolli announced the AKR's withdrawal from the coalition with the LDK and the formation of a government pact with the PAN Coalition. [5] As a result, the AKR was promised several ministries in the new government, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Land Management, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Economic Development. [6] The PAN Coalition announced that two LDK deputies, Ukë Rugova and Dardan Gashi, would also join the government. [7]
Finally on September 9 the new government was voted, and Ramush Haradinaj was elected new prime minister with 61 votes in favor. This votes include Ramush Haradinaj pre-election coalition PANA Coalition, AKR, the national minorities and the Serbian list. The new government include 21 ministers includes ethnic Albanians, Bosniaks, Turks and Serbs.
Ibrahim Rugova was a Kosovo Albanian politician, scholar, and writer, who served as the President of the partially recognised Republic of Kosova, serving from 1992 to 2000 and as President of Kosovo from 2002 until his death in 2006. He oversaw a popular struggle for independence, advocating a peaceful resistance to Yugoslav rule and lobbying for U.S. and European support, especially during the Kosovo War.
The Democratic League of Kosovo is the oldest and one of the largest political parties in Kosovo.
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo is a right-wing political party in Kosovo.
The politics of Kosovo takes place in a framework of a multi-party parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the President (Presidenti) is the head of state and the Prime Minister (Kryeministri) the head of government. Parliamentary elections are held every four years, the most recent in 2021.
Ramush Haradinaj is a Kosovo Albanian politician, leader of the AAK party, and the third prime minister of Kosovo. He is a former officer and leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), and previously served as Prime Minister of Kosovo between 2004 and 2005.
The Armed Forces of the Republic of Kosova was a paramilitary organization, a military wing of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the main right-wing party in Kosovo established by Ibrahim Rugova and Bujar Bukoshi. It was active during the Kosovo War (1998–99).
Albin Kurti is a Kosovo-Albanian politician and activist. He has served as the prime minister of Kosovo since 22 March 2021, having previously served in that role between February and June 2020.
Kosovo–Montenegro relations are foreign relations between Kosovo and Montenegro. Montenegro has a 78.6 km (48.8 mi)-long border with Kosovo. It was the 49th state to recognise Kosovo's independence.
Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 12 December 2010, following a vote of no-confidence in the government that brought forward the election. Those were the first elections after the country declared independence.

Isa Mustafa is a retired Kosovar politician. Mustafa was the mayor of Pristina from December 2007 to December 2013 and served as the prime minister of Kosovo between December 2014 and September 2017. He was the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) between 2010 and 2021.
Dardan Gashi is a Kosovo Albanian politician and author and was Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo / Minister of the Ministry of Diaspora and Strategic Investments in the cabinet of Ramush Haradinaj from September 2017 to February 2020.
Pristina is the capital city of Kosovo. In the preliminary results of the 2011 census the population of Pristina was around 198,000. The majority of the population is Albanian, but there are also smaller communities including Bosniaks, Serbs, Romani and others. The surface of Pristina is 854 km². Pristina is known as the center of cultural, economical and political developments. The city is home of the University of Pristina, Pristina International Airport Adem Jashari, the Government Building and the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo.
Avdullah Hoti is a Kosovan politician, who served as the prime minister of Kosovo from 3 June 2020 until 22 March 2021. He previously served as the minister of Finance of Kosovo between 2014 and 2017 in the PDK/LDK coalition government.
The PANA coalition was a ruling post-electoral Kosovan political alliance between four major Albanian and six ethnic minority parties in Kosovo. Its formation ended three months of political uncertainty following the 2017 parliamentary election. It was founded originally as PAN coalition.
The LA coalition was a political alliance in Kosovo, between the Democratic League of Kosovo and The Alternative which stood in the 2017 elections along with the New Kosovo Alliance, who left the coalition after the elections. It was founded originally as LAA coalition.
The second Haradinaj cabinet was formed the government of Kosovo from 9 September 2017 upon the defeat of Isa Mustafa and the LA Coalition in the 2017 elections to 3 February 2020 following its defeat in the 2019 parliamentary election. The cabinet was made up of members of the PANA Coalition and some members of the opposition.
The parliament of Kosovo held indirect elections for president of Kosovo on 3 and 4 April 2021. The elections successfully concluded after three rounds, with Vjosa Osmani winning 71 votes out of a total possible 120. Three political parties boycotted the vote. Nasuf Bejta, also a member of Guxo, the political party Osmani founded, was the only other candidate who received a vote during any of the other rounds.
Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 14 February 2021. The results were a landslide victory for Vetëvendosje led by Albin Kurti and its coalition partner, Vjosa Osmani, former speaker of the parliament of Kosovo. The alliance won more than 50% of the total votes, the highest share since the first elections held in 2001, while their nearest rivals, the Democratic Party, finished in second place, trailing by more than 33%.
Ardian Gjini is a politician in Kosovo. He was a cabinet minister in Kosovo's government from 2005 to 2008, served in the Assembly of Kosovo from 2007 to 2014, and has been the mayor of Gjakova since 2017. Gjini has been a prominent member of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) since the party's formation in 2001.
