The 2017 Michigan Wolverines men's soccer team was the college's 18th season of playing organized men's college soccer. It was the Wolverines' 18th season playing in the Big Ten Conference.
Michigan finished 8th in the Big Ten Conference regular season in 2016 with a 4–11–4 overall record and a 1–6–1 in-conference record. [1] Michigan won in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament against Rutgers but lost in the quarterfinal to eventual champion Maryland. [2] The team did not earn a spot in the NCAA tournament.

The Big Ten Conference is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference in the United States. Founded as the Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives in 1896, it predates the founding of its regulating organization, the NCAA. It is based in the Chicago area in Rosemont, Illinois. For many decades the conference consisted of 10 prominent universities, which accounts for its name. As of 2014, it consists of 14 member institutions and 2 affiliate institutions, with 4 new member institutions scheduled to join in 2024. The conference competes in the NCAA Division I and its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, the highest level of NCAA competition in that sport.

The 2020 Indiana Hoosiers men's soccer team represents Indiana University Bloomington in men's college soccer during the 2020 NCAA Division I men's soccer season and 2020 Big Ten Conference men's soccer season. It was the 48th season the university fielded a men's varsity soccer program, and the 30th season the program played in the Big Ten Conference. Indiana played their home games at Bill Armstrong Stadium and were coached by 11th-year head coach, Todd Yeagley.
The 2020 Maryland Terrapins men's soccer team represents the University of Maryland, College Park during the 2020 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It is the 75th season of the university fielding a program. The Terrapins are led by 28th year head coach, Sasho Cirovski.

This was the Big Ten's eleventh season with eight men's soccer teams, as in 2024, UCLA and Washington will join the conference.
