The 2017 USL season was the seventh season of the United Soccer League. The league was granted provisional Division II status by the USSF. [1] It is organized by the United Soccer League.

Sporting Kansas City II is a MLS Next Pro club affiliated with Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer. The 2017 Tulsa Roughnecks FC season was the club's third season of existence, and their third in the United Soccer League. It is the club's first season playing in the second division of American soccer following U.S. Soccer's sanctioning of USL as a Division II professional league. Including the previous iterations of franchises named "Tulsa Roughnecks", this is the 17th season of a soccer club named the "Roughnecks" playing in the Tulsa metropolitan area.

For the 2nd straight year the Swope Park Rangers finished fourth in the Western Conference and were runners-up in the USL Championship; they lost 1-0 to Louisville City FC in the final.

The 2018 Swope Park Rangers season was the club's third year of play and their third season in the Western Conference of the United Soccer League, the second tier of the United States Soccer Pyramid. The Rangers moved from the Swope Soccer village to Shawnee Mission District Stadium in Overland Park, Kansas for the team's season opener, before playing the rest of the 2018 schedule at Children's Mercy Park.

The 2018 Saint Louis FC season was the club's fourth season of existence, and their fourth consecutive season in the United Soccer League, the second tier of American soccer. Saint Louis also competed in the U.S. Open Cup. The season covers the period from October 16, 2017, to the beginning of the 2019 USL season.
