The Sweden v Denmark match was scheduled for 20 October 2017, 18:15 local time, at the Gamla Ullevi, Gothenburg, but was cancelled by Denmark because of a pay dispute between the Danish team and their federation. [1] [2] UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Denmark for refusal to play [3] and, on 16 November, it was announced that UEFA awarded the match to Sweden by a score of 3–0, and fined Denmark €20,000. The Denmark national under-21 football team has played since 1976 and is controlled by the Danish Football Association. Before 1976, the age limit was 23 years.

The 2015 season is the 118th season of competitive football in Sweden. The competitive started with the group stage of Svenska Cupen on 21 February. League competition started in early April with Allsvenskan on 5 April, Superettan on 5 April and Division 1 on 12 April. Svenska Cupen concluded with the final on 17 May. The 2016–17 Danish Superliga season was the 27th season of the Danish Superliga, which decides the Danish football championship. The season was the first with a new league structure in which 14 clubs play each other home and away, until the league was split up in championship and relegation play-offs. The new structure was inspired by the one used by the Belgian First Division A and was approved by the Danish FA, Dansk Boldspil-Union, on 28 June 2015.
