Municipal and regional elections were held in Peru on 7 October 2018. In the election, Peruvians voted for governors, vice governors and regional councilors at a regional level while at a municipal level, citizens voted for mayors and municipal councilors. Those elected took office 1 January 2019 and serve their term until 31 December 2022.

Popular Force, the party of Keiko Fujimori which held the majority in the Congress of the Republic of Peru at the time, saw little success in the elections. The party saw no candidates elected into Lima or regional governments within Peru. [2]
National Solidarity Party, was a conservative Peruvian political party. Founded in 1998 for the 2000 general election to support the candidacy of Luis Castañeda Lossio, a former Lima City Council member from Popular Action. Following the end of Alberto Fujimori's regime, the party formed the National Unity coalition with the Christian People's Party and other minor parties. Led by Lourdes Flores, the coalition placed third at the 2001 and 2006 general elections, while at municipal level, it won the capital city of Lima with Castañeda as the mayoral nominee.
Renzo Andrés Reggiardo Barreto is a Peruvian Fujimorist politician, businessman and a former Congressman representing the constituency of Lima for two terms, between 2006 and 2016. In 2018, he ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Lima in the local elections. Leading most of the polls throughout the entire campaign, his absence in the mayoral debate caused him to finish in third place in the election with 8.9% of the popular vote, losing to Jorge Muñoz Walls of the Popular Action.
