Pablo Carreño Busta was the defending champion, but lost to Daniil Medvedev in the second round.
Jack Sock defeated Filip Krajinović in the final, 5–7, 6–4, 6–1, to win the singles title at the 2017 Paris Masters. It was his first Masters 1000 singles title. Sock became the first American man to win an ATP Masters 1000 singles title since Andy Roddick in 2010. For the first time since 2004, more than three of the year's Masters 1000 singles events were won by players outside the Big Four. The win also catapulted Sock from No. 24 in the Race to London to No. 9, which earned him entry to the 2017 ATP Finals. Sock also entered the top 10 for the first time in his career.
Juan Martín del Potro defeated the defending champion Roger Federer in the final, 6–4, 6–7(8–10), 7–6(7–2) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2018 Indian Wells Masters. Del Potro saved three championship points en route to his first ATP Tour Masters 1000 title, having been a runner-up on three previous occasions.
John Isner defeated Alexander Zverev in the final, 6–7(4–7), 6–4, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2018 Miami Open. It was his maiden Masters 1000 title. Isner became the first new Miami Open champion in nine years.

Dominic Thiem defeated Roger Federer in the final, 3–6, 6–3, 7–5, to win the men's singles title at the 2019 Indian Wells Masters. It was his first ATP Tour Masters 1000 title. Thiem became the first Austrian to win a Masters 1000-level title since Thomas Muster won the 1997 Miami Open.

Aslan Karatsev won his first ATP Tour singles title, defeating Lloyd Harris in the final, 6–3, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2021 Dubai Tennis Championships. Karatsev became the second wildcard in the tournament's history to win the men's singles title. Harris was the first qualifier to reach the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Rafael Nadal defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, 6–4, 6–7(6–8), 7–5 to win the singles title at the 2021 Barcelona Open. Nadal saved a championship point en route to his record-extending 12th Barcelona Open title and 61st ATP Tour singles title on clay. It became the second tournament at which Nadal had earned 12 or more victories, after the French Open. At three hours and 38 minutes, the final match was also the longest best-of-three-set tour-level final ever recorded since the Association of Tennis Professionals began tracking statistics in 1991. Tsitsipas, who had also lost to Nadal in his first career ATP singles final at this tournament in 2018, was in contention to win his first ATP 500 tournament title on his seventh attempt.
Alexander Zverev defeated Matteo Berrettini in the final, 6–7(8–10), 6–4, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2021 Madrid Open. It was Zverev's fourth ATP Masters 1000 title, his first since winning Madrid in 2018, and his 15th career ATP Tour singles title overall. Berrettini was in contention to become the second Italian to be crowned a Masters 1000 champion in his first final at this level.

The 2021 Hamburg European Open was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 115th edition of the event for the men and the 19th edition for the women, after last tournament being held in 2002. The tournament was classified as a WTA 250 tournament on the 2021 WTA Tour and as an ATP Tour 500 series on the 2021 ATP Tour. The tournament took place at the Am Rothenbaum in Hamburg, Germany between 6 and 18 July 2021.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Diego Schwartzman in the final, 6–4, 6–2 to win the singles title at the 2022 Rio Open. Alcaraz became the youngest winner of an ATP Tour 500 event since the category was created in 2009.
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Miami Open. It was his first ATP Tour Masters 1000 title, and he became the first Spaniard to win the title. The victory also made Alcaraz, at 18 years and 333 days old, the youngest men's singles titlist in Miami Open history, and the youngest Masters 1000 champion since Rafael Nadal at the 2005 Monte Carlo Masters. Ruud became the first Norwegian to reach a Masters 1000 final, and the first Scandinavian since Robin Söderling at the 2010 Paris Masters.
Cameron Norrie defeated Alex Molčan in the final, 6–3, 6–7(3–7), 6–1 to win the singles tennis title at the 2022 ATP Lyon Open. Norrie became the first Briton to win a clay court title on the ATP Tour since 2016.
