The 2024 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League was the inaugural edition of the Global Super League. [1] The tournament featured 5 clubs from 5 countries that competed in 11 matches from 26 November to 6 December 2024. All matches were played at Providence Stadium in Providence, Guyana.

In the final Rangpur Riders defeated Cricket Victoria by 56 runs to win their inaugural title.

Background

The Global Super League is an international club cricket tournament, organized by Cricket West Indies. [2] The inaugural season is being held in Guyana, [3] with 5 club teams from Australia, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan and the West Indies, with teams invited from the domestic competitions Twenty20 Big Bash, Bangladesh Premier League, T20 Blast, Pakistan Super League and Caribbean Premier League respectively. [4]

The final was held on December 7, 2024, at Providence Stadium, Guyana, between Rangpur Riders and Cricket Victoria. After concerns over player availability, Rangpur secured a dominant 56-run victory. They posted 178/3, with Soumya Sarkar (86) and Steven Taylor (68) leading the charge. In response, Cricket Victoria were bowled out for 122 runs in 18.1 overs. This marked Rangpur Riders first major title in the GSL. The final was celebrated as a milestone for South American cricket, and the tournament's success paved the way for future editions and increased global involvement.

Format

The 5 teams are playing once against each team in a round-robin stage for a total of 10 matches. The top 2 teams based on the points table will advance to the final match. [5]

The tournament was held from 26 August to 15 September 2021, with all the matches took placed in Saint Kitts and Nevis. A players' draft was held on 28 May 2021. On 14 July 2021, Cricket West Indies confirmed the fixtures for the tournament. The Trinbago Knight Riders were the defending champions.

2023 Pakistan Super League was the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. Then PCB chairman Ramiz Raja had hinted at an auction based system to replace the draft for the 2023 season but a draft was retained. The draft for the tournament was held on 15 December in Karachi. A total of 36 foreign players were picked alongside local players. Lahore Qalandars were the defending champions.

The 2022 Caribbean Premier League (CPLT20) or CPL 10 or for sponsorship reasons, Hero CPL 2022 was the tenth season of the Caribbean Premier League, the domestic Twenty20 cricket league that was played in the West Indies.
