The 2024 season is the 27th season in the history of Sagan Tosu. They will be participating in the J1 League, Emperor's Cup as well as the J.League Cup. This will be coach Kenta Kawai's third season at the helm of the team.

The 2012 Gamba Osaka season is Gamba Osaka's 20th season in the J. League Division 1 and 26th overall in the Japanese top flight. It also includes the 2012 J. League Cup, 2012 Emperor's Cup, and the 2012 AFC Champions League.
The 2012 Kashiwa Reysol season is Kashiwa Reysol's second season in J. League Division 1 since 2009 and 40th overall in the Japanese top flight. It also includes the 2011 J. League Cup, and the 2011 Emperor's Cup.
The 2012 Sagan Tosu season was Sagan Tosu's first season in J.League Division 1 after being promoted for J.League Division 2 in 2011. They finished the season in fifth position, narrowly missing out on an AFC Champions League spot by two points. They also participated in the J.League Cup, going out in the group stages, and the Emperor's Cup, where they reached the second round before defeat to Kamatamare Sanuki. It was their second season with Yoon Jung-hwan as their manager, and Yohei Toyoda was their top goalscorer with 16 league goals.

The 2013 season was Kashima Antlers 10th season in the J1 League. They got to the 4th round of the Emperors Cup and the 1st round of the J.League Cup, and ended up finishing 5th in the league.
The 2014 season was Kashima Antlers' 22nd consecutive season in J.League Division 1, the top flight of Japanese football since the introduction of professional football in 1993. However, on 6 May, they lost their continental participation spot as Urawa Red Diamonds won the 2022 AFC Champions League.
The 2023 Gamba Osaka season was the club's 43rd season in existence and the tenth consecutive season in the top flight of Japanese football. The club finished the 2023 J1 League in 16th place, one place lower than the previous season and again narrowly avoiding relegation. They also competed in the Emperor's Cup where they were knocked out in the second round by JFL club Kochi United and the J.League Cup where they reached the quarter-finals. No team conceded more league goals than Gamba and they finished with the second-worst goal difference, only marginally better than relegated Yokohama FC.
The 2023 season is Avispa Fukuoka's 41st season in existence and the club's third consecutive season in the top flight of Japanese football. In addition to the domestic league, Avispa Fukuoka participated in this season's edition of the Emperor's Cup and the J.League Cup.
