William D. Snyder is a retired college football coach and former player. He served as the head football coach at Kansas State University from 1989 to 2005 and again from 2009 to 2018. Snyder initially retired from the position from 2006 to 2008 before being rehired. Snyder retired for the second time on December 2, 2018, and is serving as a special ambassador for the athletics department.

With their 1st conference championship since 1934, they earned a berth in one of the Bowl Championship Series bowl games, the 2004 Fiesta Bowl, where they were defeated by the Ohio State Buckeyes, 35–28. The Wildcats played 15 games, most in school history.
The Iowa State–Kansas State football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Iowa State Cyclones and the Kansas State Wildcats held every year since 1917, making it one of the longest continuous series in college football history as of 2024. It is also one of just two never-interrupted rivalries in college football. The October 2016 game marked the 100th straight year the two teams have met. In November 2023, the Big 12 announced its scheduling matrix for the next four seasons, which is set to end the rivalry's continuous streak in 2027.
Collin Klein is an American college football coach and former player. He is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Texas A&M Aggies. Klein played as a wide receiver for Kansas State during the 2009 season, and made his first career start at quarterback in a win against the Texas Longhorns during the 2010 season. Klein finished his college career ranked 15th all-time in career NCAA rushing touchdowns.

The 25th annual Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl featured the Michigan Wolverines of the Big Ten Conference and the Kansas State Wildcats of the Big 12 Conference. The game was telecast at 8:15 p.m. MST on ESPN. It is one of the 2013–14 bowl games that concluded the 2013 FBS football season. The game was sponsored by the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant franchise.
