Terengganu is a sultanate and federal state of Malaysia. The state is also known by its Arabic honorific,Dāru l-Īmān. The coastal city of Kuala Terengganu,at the mouth of the Terengganu River,is both the state and royal capital as well as the most populous city in Terengganu. Other major cities and towns include Jerteh,Kuala Dungun,Chukai,Kuala Berang,Marang,and Permaisuri. At 13,035 square kilometres in size and a population of over 1.2 million people in 2023,Terengganu is Malaysia's 7th largest state and 10th most populated. Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium is a football stadium in Kuala Nerus,Terengganu,Malaysia. Together with the adjacent Mini Stadium,it forms the centrepiece of Terengganu Sports Complex. It was used for football matches. The stadium holds 50,000 people and is named after the reigning Terengganu Ruler,Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin. The biggest stadium in the East Coast region of Peninsular Malaysia,it was built to replace Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium as the state's main stadium.

Kuala Nerus is a district in Terengganu,Malaysia. It is the youngest district in the state,having been declared a separate district in 2014. Formerly it was part of Kuala Terengganu district but the district is still governed by Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) which is one of few city councils in Malaysia to govern two separate districts. Its capital is Kuala Nerus town,other major towns and villages include Gong Badak,Seberang Takir,Batu Rakit and Batu Enam,all which are located within city limits of Kuala Terengganu. Kuala Nerus' population is 226,177 people as of 2015 which makes it the most populous district in Terengganu. The district has a total land area of 397.52 km2.
Wan Mokhtar bin Wan Ahmad was a Malaysian politician who served as the 11th Menteri Besar of Terengganu. In office for 25 years,he was the longest-serving head of the Terengganu state government.
