The 15th Terengganu state election were held on 12 August 2023 to elect the State Assembly members of the 15th Terengganu State Legislative Assembly, the legislature of the Malaysian state of Terengganu.
Terengganu is one of the states which did not dissolve simultaneously with Dewan Rakyat on 10 October 2022. It was decided by Perikatan Nasional on 13 October 2022. [3]
In the state election, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition led by Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) won all 32 seats (achieving a supermajority), recording the first clean sweep in the state's history since 1978. Other candidates, including the Barisan Nasional (BN)-Pakatan Harapan (PH) electoral pact did not win any of the seats, with BN losing all its previous 10 seats, and leaving the state assembly with no elected opposition representative.
The 2023 Kuala Terengganu by-election were held concurrently with this election.
For the state elections, Perikatan Nasional has decided to use the PAS logo and name for all its candidate in Kelantan and Terengganu, regardless of the candidate party. [4]
All 32 constituencies within Terengganu, which constitute the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly, were contested during the election.

Takiyuddin bin Haji Hassan is a Malaysian politician and lawyer from the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Bharu since May 2013. He served as the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob from August 2021 to the collapse of the BN administration in November 2022, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Parliament and Law in the PN administration under Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from March 2020 to the collapse of the PN administration in August 2021. In addition, he has served as the Secretary-General of PAS since June 2015 and Chief Whip of PN and PAS in the Dewan Rakyat and the only member of the Public Accounts Committee from PAS.
The National Alliance is a political coalition composed of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party, Malaysian Islamic Party, Malaysian People's Movement Party and Sabah Progressive Party. This coalition was preceded by the Malaysian Party Alliance Association, also known as the Persatuan Perikatan Parti Malaysia (PPPM). Green Wave, also known as Green Tsunami, better known as Malay Wave, also known as Malay Tsunami, otherwise known as The People's Wave, alternatively known as Perikatan Nasional Wave / National Pact Wave, shortened as PN Wave, is a political phenomenon that has taken place in Malaysia since the 2022 Malaysian general election. This political phenomenon involves Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and its ultraconservative voters, who mainly originate from the northeastern and northwestern parts of Peninsular Malaysia. Ideologically, the phenomenon mostly concerns a far-right, authoritarian and ultranationalist movement that espouses increased Malay–Muslim hegemony in Malaysian politics as well as further intimidation and marginalisation of Malaysia's minority groups and religions.
The 2023 Simpang Jeram by-election was a by-election held on 9 September 2023 for the Johor State Legislative Assembly seat of Simpang Jeram. He served as the Coordinator of the Tualang Sekah state seat in 2017, State Deputy Youth Chief of PH of Perak in 2017, State Youth Chief of PKR of Perak from 2014 to 2018, Division Youth Chief of PKR of Kampar in 2014, Division Committee Member of PKR of Kampar in 2010, Division Polling and Counting Agent (PACA) of Kampar from 2009 to 2013, Member of the Youth Secretariat of PR of Perak from 2009 to 2013, Division Vice Chief of PKR of Kampar in 2009 and Branch Chief of Batu Karang in 2008.
