Amanda Lorenz (born April 25, 1997) is an American professional softball player for the USSSA Pride and member of the United States women's national softball team. She played college softball for the Florida Gators, where she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year in 2016.

High school career

Lorenz attended Moorpark High School in Moorpark, California. She was a four-time Cal-Hi Sports First Team All-State, and three-time First Team All-American. During her freshman year, she was named Cal-Hi Sports California Freshman of the Year. [1] During her sophomore year in 2013, she batted .625, with 50 hits, 17 home runs, nine doubles, 45 runs scored, 40 RBIs, and a 1.375 slugging percentage. She helped Moorpark capture its first outright Marmonte League title and was named the league's most valuable player. She was also named Ventura County Player of the Year and a finalist for Cal-Hi Sports Ms. Softball State Player of the Year. [2] [3]

During her junior year in 2014, she batted .642 with 22 doubles, eight home runs, 48 runs, 30 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases. She struck out only three times in 118 plate appearances and had an on-base percentage of .678. Following the season, she was named Ventura County Player of the Year, and Los Angeles Daily News Player of the Year. [4] She finished her high school career with a .592 batting average, .657 on-base percentage, 1.111 slugging percentage, 202 hits, 126 RBI 50 doubles, five triples and 39 home runs. [5] She was ranked the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2015 by FloSoftball. [6]

College career

Lorenz made her collegiate debut for Florida in 2016. During her freshman year she recorded a team-high .403 batting average, 14 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 48 RBI, 56 runs scored, and 48 walks. Following an outstanding season, she was named first team ALL-SEC, Freshman All-SEC, SEC Freshman of the Year, and NFCA National Freshman of the Year. [7] [8] During her sophomore year in 2017 she posted a .389 batting average, 12 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, 46 RBI, 60 runs scored and 58 walks. Following the season she was named All-SEC first team, first-team All-American and 2017 Women's College World Series all-tournament team. [5]

During her junior year in 2018, she started all 67 games for the Gators where she recorded a .416 batting average, 61 RBI, 19 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs and 70 walks and 75 runs. She led the team with 21 multi-hit games, ranked second with 17 multi-RBI games and had a team best eight game hitting streak and reached base safely in all 67 games. She became the only player in program history to reach base safely in all games played during a season, she also broke the Florida single-season record for walks with 70, and set the program single-season record for highest on base percentage (.582). [5] Following an outstanding season, she was named a top-four finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, SEC Player of the Year, All-SEC first team, and first team All-American. During her senior year in 2019, she had a .422 batting average, with 78 hits, 14 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, and 41 RBI. Following the season she was named All-SEC first team, SEC all-defensive team, and a top 10 finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year, and Senior CLASS Award. [11] [12] She finished her career at Florida as the program leader in batting average (.407), on-base-percentage (.549), walks (238) and doubles (59), second in hits (301), total bases (507), and sac flies (12), and third in slugging percentage (.685), runs (248) and triples (12). She also reached base safely in 254 out of 265 games played. She was the program's second four-time NFCA All-American, and the first in program history, eighth in SEC history, to be named a four-time All-SEC first team selection. Lorenz helped lead the Gators to three consecutive SEC regular season titles, back-to-back SEC tournament championships in 2018 and 2019, and three consecutive Women's College World Series from 2017 to 2019. Professional career

Lorenz was drafted second overall by USSSA Pride in the 2019 NPF Draft. [13] On June 7, 2019, she signed a two-year contract with the team. [14] During her first season with the team in 2019, she helped USSSA Pride win the Cowles Cup. [15]

International career

On August 31, 2023, Lorenz was named to the United States women's national softball team for the 2023 Pan American Games. [16]

Coaching career

On August 28, 2020, Lorenz was named volunteer assistant coach for the Florida Gators. [17]

She also played in the National Pro Fastpitch with four teams including her longest tenure with the USSSA Pride; where she is the all-time career leader in RBIs, hits, doubles and base on balls. She also owns numerous records for the Tide and is one of select NCAA Division I players to bat .400 with 300 hits, 200 runs and 100 stolen bases for her career.

Tammy Kay Williams is an American, former collegiate four-time All-American, four-time professional All-Star softball player and coach. She played her natural position at shortstop from 2006 to 2009 at Northwestern, as well as the Team USA and Chicago Bandits softball team. She owns Northwestern' softball team all-time career records in batting average, home runs, hits and total bases. She helped lead the Wildcats to a national runner up finish in the 2006 Women's College World Series. Williams was drafted tenth overall by the Chicago Bandits in the 2009 NPF Draft, winning two Cowles Cup championships in 2011 and 2015. She later worked as a sports broadcaster for the Big Ten and an assistant softball coach at Northern Illinois.

Charlotte Lee Morgan is an America], former professional softball pitcher and current Head Coach for Cal State Northridge. She played college softball for Alabama from 2007 to 2010, where she is the career leader for the school in RBIs, also ranking top-15 in the NCAA Division I. She was also named a four-time all-conference honoree and twice named SEC Player of the Year. Morgan was the No. 1 draft pick in the 2010 National Pro Fastpitch Senior Draft, beginning her career with The USSSA Pride based in Kissimmee, Florida, winning a title in 2010. In 2020, Morgan was named the head coach of the California State University, Northridge softball team after previously working at several colleges as a pitching coach.

She holds the Big Ten Conference career Triple Crown, along with the total bases and slugging percentage records, simultaneously leading all of the NCAA Division I in runs scored and grand slams. She was the inaugural winner of both the espnW Softball Player of the Year in 2015 and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Year in 2016, when she also took home the Honda Sports Award Softball Player of the Year and USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year awards. She is one of nine NCAA players to hit .400 with 200 RBIs, 50 home runs and an .800 slugging percentage for her career and was named the #5 Greatest College Softball Player.

Lauren Nicole Chamberlain is an American retired softball infielder. Chamberlain played college softball for the Oklahoma Sooners softball from 2012 to 2015. A collegiate All-American, she was part of the 2013 Women's College World Series championship team. She is the NCAA Division I career leader in slugging percentage. She also holds the school and Big 12 Conference career lead in RBIs, walks, total bases and runs. She was drafted #1 and played professional softball for the USSSA Pride of National Pro Fastpitch from 2015 to 2018, winning a title in her final season in 2018.

Kelly Katlyn Barnhill is an American, former collegiate All-American, professional softball pitcher. She played college softball for the Florida Gators from 2016 to 2019 and was named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, Honda Sports Award and espnW Player of the Year in 2017. She is the career no hitters (7), strikeouts, strikeout ratio (10.5) and WHIP leader for the Gators. She also ranks in career strikeout ratio for both the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA Division I.

Sydney Joy Romero is a Mexican American professional softball player and current assistant coach for Oregon. She previously played college softball for the Oklahoma Sooners, where she set numerous program records and led the Sooners to four consecutive Women's College World Series appearances from 2016 to 2019, and won the national championship as a Freshman in 2016 and Sophomore in 2017. She played professionally for the USSSA Pride of National Pro Fastpitch. She represented Mexico at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The 2017 NCAA Division I softball season, play of college softball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began in February 2017. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2017 NCAA Division I softball tournament and 2017 Women's College World Series. The Women's College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament and held annually in Oklahoma City at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, ended on June 4, 2017.

Jocelyn Aloha Pumehana Alo is an American professional softball player for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball for the Oklahoma Sooners. Alo was named 2018 NFCA National Freshman of the Year, and named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. She is the NCAA Division I career leader in home runs. Alo was drafted first overall by the Smash It Vipers in the inaugural WPF draft.

Tiare Rose Jennings is an American college softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners. As a freshman in 2021, she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year, Softball America Freshman of the Year and was selected as a first-team All-American.

Bailey Marie Hemphill is a former American All-American softball player for the Alabama Crimson Tide. She currently holds the Alabama record for the most career home runs hit with 64, as well as the SEC record for most career walks with 237.

Marshaylee Knighten is an American former professional softball player for the USSSA Pride and current assistant head coach for the San Diego Toreros softball team. She previously played college softball for Oklahoma, where she led the team to four consecutive Women's College World Series appearances from 2016 to 2019, and won the national championship as a freshman in 2016 and sophomore in 2017. She was named WCWS Most Outstanding Player in 2017.

Jayda Coleman is an American college softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners. She also represented the United States at the 2019 U-19 Women's Softball World Cup and USA Softball International Cup.

Brittany Marya Cervantes is an American softball catcher and coach of Mexican descent, and is currently the director of softball operations for Kentucky. She represented Mexico at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Amanda Sánchez is an American softball player of Mexican descent and member of the Mexico women's national softball team. She represented Team Mexico at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Chelsea Gonzales is an American professional softball player of Mexican descent for the Smash It Sports Vipers of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball for Arizona State. She represented Mexico at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
