Anna Theresa M. Gozon-Valdes (born November 3, 1972) commonly known as Annette Gozon-Valdes is a Filipino business executive, a lawyer, a law professor, film producer, scriptwriter and actress.
Anna Theresa M. Gozon-Valdes was born on November 3, 1972. Her parents are Atty. Felipe Gozon, former CEO and Chairman of the Board Members of GMA Network and Theresa "Tessie" Gozon, a former bank employee and housewife. [1] She is the eldest daughter with two younger siblings, Philip Gozon, a lawyer and Maritess Gozon-Vitebro, a medical doctor. [2]
She attended her primary and secondary education in Colegio San Agustin – Makati where she graduated valedictorian. In college, Gozon graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering degree from Ateneo de Manila University in 1993. [3] [4]
In 1997, She obtained Bachelor of Law degree and graduated cum laude and valedictorian from University of the Philippines - Diliman. [5] She was an associate professor of U.P Diliman College of Law where she taught taxation and legal history. [6] She graduated from Harvard Law School with a Masters of Law degree in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A. [7]
Gozon-Valdes started her career as a junior partner (on leave) of Belo Gozon Elma Parel Asuncion & Lucila Law firm, before becoming part of GMA Network Inc. Board of Directors in 2000. [8] [9] In 2022, she was elected to the position of Senior Vice-President of GMA Network on September 1, 2022. She is responsible for overseeing various departments including the Legal Department, Talent Management and Development, Program Management, Human Resource Department (HRM) and several network subsidiaries. Currently, Gozon-Valdes is the President of GMA Pictures, Head of Sparkle GMA Artist Center and the President of GMA Network Worldwide. [11] [12] She also serves as trustee of GMA Kapuso Foundation, Board Member of Regional GMA Network Inc. and GMA Radio and broadcasting affiliates. She helps distribute the network shows to territories in North America, Asia, Africa and Middle East. [13]
In 2024, she was chosen as one of the jurors for the 2024 Asian Academy Creative Awards. [14]
She appeared in movies including Everything About My Wife , Out of Order, Tween Academy: Class of 2012 and One True Love . [15] [16] In television, she served as one of the judges in the reality competition shows, Protégé , Sparkle Campus Cutie and Battle of the Judges . [17] [18]
Gozon was separated from her former husband, Lito Abrogar before the annulment of their marriage in 2015. [19] [20] The former couple had two children, Anja and Andy. [21] Her daughter, Anja graduated magna cum laude from Ateneo de Manila University with Management Engineering degree. [4]
She married former actor and businessman Shintaro Valdes on December 19, 2016. [22] The couple shared that they put God in the center of their relationship. [23]
On May 2021, Gozon-Valdes suffered a stroke with symptoms of dizziness, spinning vision and zapping zigzag lights on her right eye. She told her husband about her ordeal and was advice to see a doctor. [24] She was admitted in the hospital with a diagnosis of stroke and congenital heart condition known as Patent Foremaen Ovale (PFO). On June 3, 2021, Gozon-Valdes underwent a successful heart procedure [25] She thanked God and became a living testimony of his mercy after surviving two medical conditions without any impairments.
