Apate is a genus of beetles belonging to the family Bostrichidae.
Sphaerius is a genus of beetles in the family Sphaeriusidae, comprising 18 species. It is one of the two extant genera in the family, the other being Bezesporum. They are typically found along the edges of streams and rivers, where they feed on algae; they occur on all continents except Antarctica. Three species occur in the United States.
The Dytiscidae – based on the Greek dytikos (δυτικός), "able to dive" – are the predaceous diving beetles, a family of water beetles. They occur in virtually any freshwater habitat around the world, but a few species live among leaf litter. The adults of most are between 1 and 2.5 cm (0.4–1.0 in) long, though much variation is seen between species. The European Dytiscus latissimus and Brazilian Megadytes ducalis are the largest, reaching up to 4.5 and 4.75 cm respectively. In contrast, the smallest is likely the Australian Limbodessus atypicali of subterranean waters, which only is about 0.9 mm (0.035 in) long. Most are dark brown, blackish, or dark olive in color with golden highlights in some subfamilies. The larvae are commonly known as water tigers due to their voracious appetite. They have short, but sharp mandibles and immediately upon biting, they deliver digestive enzymes into prey to suck their liquefied remains. The family includes more than 4,000 described species in numerous genera.
Heliophanus is a genus of the spider family Salticidae. Most of the almost 170 described species occur in Africa, with many others found in the Palearctic region from Europe to Japan.
Dermestes is a genus of beetles in the family Dermestidae, the skin beetles. The genus is distributed worldwide.
Xantholinus is a genus of the beetle family Staphylinidae, the rove beetles. They can be found throughout the world. Most are native to the Palearctic realm, and some have been introduced to North America.
Gyrinus is a genus of small aquatic whirligig beetles in the family Gyrinidae native to the Palearctic, the Near East, the Nearctic, North Africa, Asia and Australia.
Notiophilus is a genus of ground beetle native to the Palearctic, the Nearctic, the Near East and North Africa. Most known for their distinctive head shape and size-body ratio the genus is sometimes referred to as the springtail stalkers.
Brachinus is a genus of ground beetle native to the Nearctic, Palearctic, the Near East and North Africa. Beetles in this genus are commonly referred to as bombardier beetles. The genus contains the following species:

Chrysochroinae is a subfamily of beetles in the family Buprestidae: the "jewel beetles".
Anthiinae is a subfamily of beetles in the family Carabidae, containing the following genera:
Pheropsophus is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. It is considered a sister group of the genus Pheropsophidius within the subtribe Pheropsophina.
Licininae is a subfamily of in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 80 genera and 1,800 described species in Licininae.

Apate terebrans, common names shot-hole borer or trunk borer or girdler, is a species of horned powder-post beetles belonging to the family Bostrichidae.
Callichromatini is a tribe of beetles in the subfamily Cerambycinae, which includes the following genera:
Epomis is a subgenus of ground beetle genus Chlaenius. The larvae of this subgenus are notable for being obligate role-reversal predators. Amphibians such as frogs are normally predators of beetles; however, Epomis larvae feed exclusively on amphibians.
Ampedus is a genus of click beetles in the family Elateridae. There are currently 461 recognized species of Ampedus beetles. It has a cosmopolitan distribution, but is found mostly in the Holarctic region, primarily in North America, Europe, and Asia. The oldest known fossil from this genus was found in Eocene Baltic amber, estimated to be from 38.0 to 33.9 million years ago.
