The FIA Asia-Pacific Touring Car Championship was a motorsport championship staged in 1988 and in 1994. The 1988 championship was won by New Zealand's Trevor Crowe and the 1994 champion was Joachim Winkelhock from Germany. Crowe drove a BMW M3 for fellow Kiwi John Sax, while Winkelhock drove a BMW 318i for Schnitzer Motorsport. In 1996–1999 the series was re-vamped into the South East Asia Touring Car Zone Challenge mainly with local drivers only. In 2000 it changed to the FIA Asian Touring Car Championship. [1]

Touring car racing is a motorsport road racing competition that uses race prepared touring cars. It has both similarities to and significant differences from stock car racing, which is popular in the United States.
Denis Clive Hulme was a New Zealand racing driver who won the 1967 Formula One World Drivers' Championship for the Brabham team. Between his debut at Monaco in 1965 and his final race in the 1974 US Grand Prix, he started 112 Grands Prix, resulting in eight victories and 33 podium finishes. He also finished third in the overall standing in 1968 and 1972.

Schnitzer Motorsport was a motorsport team based in Freilassing near Munich, Germany. From the early days of its establishment, the team mostly operated an automobile racing squad for BMW, and had remarkable results in touring car and sports car racing. The team would often run the cars for BMW under the name of "BMW Motorsport". In 2012, the team operated the DTM team for BMW under the name of "BMW Team Schnitzer".

He was the winner of the 1993 Guia Race, three times SEATCZC champion and the 2003 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion. He also performed roadtests and wrote columns for car magazines in Hong Kong.

The 2006 World Touring Car Championship season was the third season of FIA World Touring Car Championship motor racing. It featured a ten event, twenty race series which commenced on 2 April 2006 and ended on 19 November. The series was open to Super 2000, Diesel 2000 and Super Production Cars, with two titles awarded, the FIA World Touring Car Champion for Drivers and the FIA World Touring Car Champion for Manufacturers. Andy Priaulx won the Drivers title and BMW won the Manufacturers award.

The 2010 World Touring Car Championship season was the seventh season of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, and the sixth since its 2005 return. It began with the Race of Brazil at Curitiba on 7 March and ended with the Guia Race of Macau at the Guia Circuit on 21 November, after twenty-two races at eleven events. The championship was open to both Super 2000 and Diesel 2000 cars.

W Racing Team (WRT) is a Belgian auto racing team founded in 2009 by engineer and former head of Volkswagen Motorsport René Verbist, racing driver Vincent Vosse, and entrepreneur Yves Weerts. Between 2010 and 2022 the team campaigned Audi R8 LMSs in several international sports car series. In 2010 the team won the Belcar Drivers' and Teams' Championships, while in 2011 they won the Spa 24 Hours. After winning multiple titles in various GT championships, WRT is considered to be one of the best teams worldwide in GT racing. In 2019 and 2020 WRT ran two Audi RS5 Turbo DTMs in the highly competitive DTM championship. In 2021 WRT added a full time LMP2 program, by entering an Oreca 07 in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series, and won the LMP2 class of the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans. From 2023 on WRT switched their partnership in GT racing from Audi to BMW and will run the BMW M4 GT3. The team will also run two factory backed BMW M Hybrid V8s in the FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar category from 2024.

The 2012 FIA GT1 Algarve round was an auto racing event held on 7–8 July 2012 at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, Portugal. It was the fifth round of the 2012 FIA GT1 World Championship season for grand tourer racing cars complying with GT1 and GT3 regulations. The event consisted of two races, the Qualifying Race and the Championship Race, each of which lasted one hour. The Qualifying Race took place on 7 June and was won by the All-Inkl.com Münnich Motorsport pairing of Markus Winkelhock and Marc Basseng. The Championship race was held the following day and saw Thomas Jäger and Nicky Pastorelli take victory, also driving for All-Inkl.com Münnich Motorsport.
The 1994 FIA Asia-Pacific Touring Car Championship was a motorsport championship for Super Touring racing cars. This was the second running of the championship and the champion was Joachim Winkelhock who drove for Schnitzer Motorsport.
The 1988 Asia-Pacific Touring Car Championship was a Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) sanctioned motor racing series run for Group A Touring Cars. It was the first of only two times the championship was run, with the next not being held until 1994.
