The 1998 Swedish Touring Car Championship season was the 3rd Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) season. It was decided over six race weekends (comprising twelve races) at five different circuits.
Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) was a touring car racing series based in Sweden, but also with rounds in Norway. They began operating in 1996, heavily influenced by the British Touring Car Championship and the success of BTCC racing on Swedish television. There are also a number of support classes that compete with their races alongside STCC; Radical, the Camaro Cup, Superkart, Pro Superbike, the JTCC and the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. The final STCC season was in 2010, as the series merged with the Danish Touringcar Championship to form the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
Fredrik Ekblom won his first championship for the BMW Dealer Team.
WestCoast Racing is a Swedish motor racing team, which was founded in 1994 by Dick Jönsson-Wigroth. The team which is based in Halmstad on the Swedish west coast is one of Sweden's most successful racing team. WestCoast Racing has since the mid-1990s had a strong partnership with BMW and the Swedish dealers and the team is also known as the "BMW Dealer Team". The team has mainly competed in the STCC, but also in the ETC Cup, FIA Sportscar Championship, Formula Ford and Volvo S60 Challenge. Currently the team is competing in the TCR International Series

Points were awarded to the top ten drivers in a race as follows: 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1.
5 points were awarded to any driver who took part in qualifying.
Top 6 finishers in Race 1 were reversed to decide the Race 2 grid.
The final meeting of the year saw double points awarded.

Flash Engineering is a Swedish motorsport team based in Karlstad founded and owned by two-time Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) winner Jan "Flash" Nilsson. The most recent time the team won the STCC-title was in 2008 with driver Richard Göransson. Flash Engineering was affiliated with Volvo until 2005, when Nilsson sold the team to Christian Dahl, and reincorporated it as a new, independent racing team, running BMW and Porsche cars.
The 2010 Swedish Touring Car Championship season will be the 15th and last Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) season. Four of the race weekends will be held together with the Danish Touring Car Championship and the results from these races will also count towards the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup. From 2011, the new Scandinavian Touring Car Championship will replace both the Swedish and the Danish Touring Car Championships.

Thed Björk entered the season as the series' defending champion.
The 2015 Formula Renault 1.6 Nordic season was the third season of the Formula Renault 1.6 Nordic, a series running 1600cc Formula Renault machinery in similar fashion to the French F4 Championship, and the last one to run under the backing of Renault. The series began on 9 May at Skövde Airport and ended on 26 September at Ring Knutstorp, after fifteen races held in seven venues. Most of these rounds were held in support of the 2015 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season, joint organiser of the series along with the FIA Northern European Zone Organisation.
The 2016 Formula STCC Nordic season is the fourth season of the single seater championship that supports the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship. The series went previously under the name of Formula Renault 1.6 Nordic, but the name was changed after Renault Sport dropped its support for the 3.5 and 1.6 classes in late 2015. The season will begin on 30 April at Skövde Airport and will end on 24 September at Ring Knutstorp, after fourteen races held in seven venues. Most of these rounds are held in support of the 2016 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, joint organiser of the series along with the FIA Northern European Zone Organisation.
The 2017 Formula STCC Nordic season is the fifth season of the single seater championship that supports 2017 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season. Previously it went under the name of Formula Renault 1.6 Nordic but the name was changed after Renault Sport dropped its support for the 3.5 and 1.6 classes in late 2015. The season will begin the 4 May at Ring Knutstorp see its conclusion the 14 September at Mantorp Park after seven rounds.
