Atle Pettersen (born 5 September 1989 in Skien) is a Norwegian singer and songwriter from Skien and lead singer of the band The Scheen. [1]

Beginnings

Pettersen took part, at 14, in the 2003 edition of Melodi Grand Prix Junior with the song "Hekta på brett" that he had written himself. [2] The song was performed with Stine. In 2006, he participated in Kjempesjansen on NRK. [3]

In X Factor

In autumn 2010 Atle Pettersen participated in the Norwegian version of The X Factor on TV 2 [4] Pettersen auditioned with a song written by himself and other members of Above Symmetry called "Traces Inside". Reaching the live shows, Pettersen was mentored by Marion Ravn. Atle Pettersen finished runner-up behind winner Hans Bollandsås.

After X Factor

On 4 December 2010 he appeared at the TV 2 Artist Gala performing "Lean on Me" with Annsofi Pettersen and Mohamed Abdi Farah and in Spring 2011, he appeared as guest artist for the symphonic power metal band Kamelot Pettersen was the lead singer of the progressive metal Above Symmetry together with Robin Ognedal (guitars), Joachim Strøm Ekelund (drums), Nickolas Main Henriksen (keyboards) and Rein Blomquist (bass). They were originally called 'Aspera', but were threatened with legal action by another band with the same name, forcing the change to Above Symmetry in 2010. They were signed to InsideOut Records and released a record called Ripples in April 2011. [5] The band disbanded a year later. [6] Together with Ognedal, Henriksen and Blomquist he formed the hard-rock band The Scheen in 2013, recruiting Tobias Ørnes Andersen on drums. [1]

In autumn 2011, he took part in TV 2's reality show Skal vi danse [7] (Dancing with the Stars franchise), partnering with Marianne Sandaker. [8] winning the competition after beating Kari Traa in the final. [9] [10] He also featured in advertisements for the Italian fashion label Police. [11]

Pettersen participated in Melodi Grand Prix 2021 the national final to choose the representative for Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with his song "World on Fire", Pettersen sang in the final but failed to make the final 4. [12] [13] He would participate in Melodi Grand Prix again in 2023 with the song "Masterpiece", qualifying for the final and placing third.

Didrik Solli-Tangen is a Norwegian singer who represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "My Heart Is Yours".

Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with the song "My Heart Goes Boom" written by Tore Madsen and Morten Henriksen. The song was performed by the group Charmed. The Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) organised the national final Melodi Grand Prix 2000 in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 2000 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Ten entries competed in a show that took place on 4 March 2000 and the winner was determined over two rounds of voting from a five-member jury panel and a regional televote. The top four entries in the first round of voting advanced to the competition's second round—the superfinal. In the second round of voting, "My Heart Goes Boom" performed by Charmed was selected as the winner.

Norway was represented by Kirsti Sparboe, with the song "Oj, oj, oj, så glad jeg skal bli", at the 1969 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 29 March in Madrid. "Oj, oj, oj, så glad jeg skal bli" was chosen as the Norwegian entry at the Melodi Grand Prix on 1 March. This was the last of three Eurovision appearances in five years for Sparboe.

Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2004 was the third music competition in Norway in the series Melodi Grand Prix Junior for children aged 9 and 15 years. The winner of 2003 was the group @lek with their song "En stjerne skal jeg bli", which represented Norway at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004.

Melodi Grand Prix2023 was the 61st edition of Melodi Grand Prix (MGP), the annual Norwegian music competition that serves as the country's preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. It was organised by Norway's public broadcaster NRK, and consisted of three semi-finals and a final, held throughout January and February 2023. The winner of the competition, Alessandra with "Queen of Kings", went on to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom in May 2023.
