ARD is a joint organisation of Germany's regional public-service broadcasters. It was founded in 1950 in West Germany to represent the common interests of the new, decentralised, post-war broadcasting services – in particular the introduction of a joint television network.

It was first developed by Olf Fischer as a radio play series which first aired on Bayerischer Rundfunk on 19 April 1954. The television series was launched in 1959. The radio plays featured actors such as Gustl Bayrhammer, Max Grießer, Maxl Graf, Erni Singerl and Ludwig Schmid-Wildy.
on3-radio was a German, public radio station owned and operated by the Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR). On 18 April 2013 it was announced that on3-radio would be replaced by a new radio station called PULS on 15 May 2013. The name PULS also acts as a replacement for the previous umbrella brand on3. On 5 May 2008 the station was renamed on3radio.
