History

Founded in 2020, Blade Study is located at 17 Pike Street. [2] In 2024, Blade Study received the Gramercy International Prize, which awards a young New York gallery a complimentary booth at The Armory Show. [3] At The Armory Show 2024, Blade Study exhibited a solo presentation by Paige K. B [4] [5] Blade Study presented a solo booth by Emma Safir at NADA 2024. [6] [7] As of November 2024, Blade Study has presented 18 exhibitions, including 13 solo shows and 5 group shows, with 33 artists. [8]

Brooke Nicholas and Ian Glover are Blade Study’s directors and founders. [3] [9]

Frieze Art Fair is an annual contemporary art fair first held in 2003 in London's Regent's Park. Developed by the founders of the contemporary art magazine Frieze, the fair has since expanded to include editions in four cities, in addition to acquiring several other art fairs. Following the original Frieze Art Fair, the fair added Frieze Masters (2012), also in London, dedicated to art made before the year 2000; Frieze New York (2012); Frieze Los Angeles (2019); and Frieze Seoul (2022). The Armory Show is an international art fair in New York City, known as New York's Art Fair. Established in 1994 as the Gramercy International Art Fair by dealers Colin De Land, Pat Hearn, Lisa Spellman, Matthew Marks and Paul Morris, the annual fair is now held every fall for four days and attracts crowds of 65,000. The art fair reports sales of $85 million as of 2008. Many smaller fairs and special events are held the same week in New York, effectively called "Armory Show Week" or "New York Arts Week". The Armory Show was acquired by the London Frieze Art Fair in July 2023.

Paddy Johnson is a New York-based art educator and entrepreneur. She is the Founder and CEO of VVrkshop LLC, a company that includes running the artist membership Netvvrk, founded in 2021. Her background includes art criticism, blogging, curation and writing for various publications. Johnson was the founder and editor of the art blog Art F City which was last updated in 2021. Art F City published a calendar in 2015 titled "Nude Artists as Pandas," featuring naked artists dressed up in panda costumes.

Schroeder Romero & Shredder is a contemporary art gallery located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. Gallerist Lisa Schroeder has professed a preference for conceptual and sociopolitical art.

The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit collective of professionals working with contemporary art. C24 Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located on West 24th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan, New York City. The gallery was founded in 2011 by Emre and Maide Kurttepeli and partners, Mel Dogan, and Asli Soyak. David C. Terry is the gallery’s director and curator. Terry joined the gallery with a reputable background in nonprofit arts administration, curation, and his own professional art practice. His experience in the arts world has been influential in building C24 Gallery’s reputation for showing critical and socially engaged artwork. Terry and C24 have focused on exhibiting work by a diverse roster of international and internationally renowned Black and women artists, such as Ethiopian-Israeli painter Nirit Takele and American ceramicist Tammie Rubin.

Zohra Opoku is a German-born Ghanaian textile artist and photographer. She used textile patterns to inform her photographed portraits. She was born in Altdöbern, Germany, and she lives in Accra. She is known for her installations, performances, textile designs, photographs and videos.

Aria Dean is an American artist, critic, and curator. Until 2021, Dean served as Curator and Editor of Rhizome. Her writings have appeared in various art publications including Artforum, e-flux, The New Inquiry, Art in America, and Topical Cream. Dean has exhibited internationally at venues such as Foxy Production and American Medium in New York, Chateau Shatto in Los Angeles, and Arcadia Missa in London. Dean also co-directs As It Stands LA, an artists project space that opened in 2015. Dean lives and works in New York City and Los Angeles. She is represented by Greene Naftali.

Lina Iris Viktor is a New York-based British-Liberian visual artist who is known her paintings, sculptures, photographs, and performance art. Viktor combines ancient and modern art forms to create multimedia paintings. She does this by combing an ancient technique called gilding with photography and painting to create “symbols and intricate patterns." She overlays 24-karat gold over dark canvases to create works with “layers of light”. Allison K. Young in Haven. A Hell. A Dream Deferred says that these multimedia paintings suggest “the socio-political and historical preconceptions surrounding ‘blackness’ and its universal implications”. The New York Times described her paintings as "queenly self-portraits with a futuristic edge".

Devon Dikeou is an American artist, publisher, and art collector. Dikeou’s practice investigates the "in-between" — subtle interactions between artist, art object, viewer, space, and context.

Volume Gallery is a commercial art gallery focused on design and contemporary art. It is located in West Town, Chicago. Volume Gallery represents artists and designers working in diverse disciplines such as ceramics, fiber, glass, and object design. The gallery presents seven curated thematic and solo exhibitions a year with an emphasis on emerging and mid-career artists.
