Brit Lind-Petersen-McRoberts (born 10 February 1957), also known as Brit Townsend, is a Canadian former track and field athlete who competed in middle-distance running events.

Born in Copenhagen in Denmark, she later moved to Canada and represented her adoptive country internationally. [1] She made her first appearances for Canada in 1979, placing seventh in the 800 metres at the Pan American Games, then sixth in the 1500 metres at the 1979 IAAF World Cup. [2] Her first national title came in 1980, over 1500 m at the Canadian Track and Field Championships, and she would go on to win three further titles (800 m in 1981 and 1983, then a second 1500 m title in 1986). She set Canadian National records at 800 meters (2:00.02) and 1500 meters (4:03.36) in the 1983 season. [3] She also came first in the women's mile run at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in 1984, and broke the National outdoor mile record with a (4:24.61) in Nice, France in 1986. She was a gold medal favourite for the 1500 meters at the Commonwealth Games in 1986 with the fastest time in the Commonwealth heading into the Games but caught a virus that was going around the athletes' village and had to withdraw from the competition. She won three major medals during her career, all over 1500 m: she was the gold medallist at the 1981 Pacific Conference Games, and claimed bronze at both the 1985 IAAF World Indoor Games and the 1987 Pan American Games. [5] [6] [7] She was also an 800 m gold medallist at the Francophonie Games. [8]

McRoberts was a finalist at multiple global events, including the 1983 World Championships in Athletics, 1984 Summer Olympics, and the 1986 and 1990 Commonwealth Games. She represented the Americas in two middle-distance events at the 1981 IAAF World Cup and ran for Canada at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics (failing to make the final). [2]

McRoberts graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in Kinesiology and Communications and later returned there becoming the head coach of the track and field programme under her married name, Brit Townsend. [9]

Yvonne Carole Grace Murray-Mooney, is a Scottish former middle-distance and long-distance track and road-running athlete. She won a bronze medal in the 3000 metres at the 1988 Olympic Games, and gold medals at this distance at the 1987 European Indoor Championships, the 1993 World Indoor Championships and the 1990 European Championships. Marian Joan Burnett is a female middle-distance runner from Guyana who specialises in the 800 metres. She competed in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympic Games, reaching the second heat of the 800 metres on both occasions.

Seltana Aït Hammou is a Moroccan middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres. She represented her country at the 2004 Summer Olympics and has also competed at the World Championships in Athletics and the IAAF World Indoor Championships. She has also been the gold medallist at number of major events including the 2001 Mediterranean Games, the 2003 Military World Games, the 2007 Pan Arab Games and the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie.

Katrina Jane Weston is a former British middle distance runner who specialised in the 800 metres. Competing as Jane Colebrook, she equalled the world indoor best to win at the 1977 European Indoor Championships and won a bronze medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Competing as Jane Finch, she won a silver medal at the 1985 World Indoor Games.

Deborah Dawn "Debbie" Scott-Bowker is a Canadian former middle- and long-distance runner. A three-time Olympian for Canada, she reached the 1500 m final in 1984, and both the 1500 m and 3000 m finals in 1988. She was also a three-time World Championship finalist, reaching the 1500 m and 3000 m finals in 1987, and the 1500 m final in 1991.

Lyubov Kremlyova is a Russian former middle- and long-distance runner who competed internationally both for the Soviet Union and Russia. She had her greatest success indoors, winning medals at the 1991 IAAF World Indoor Championships and 1992 European Athletics Indoor Championships. She was stripped of a second World Indoor medal in 1995 after a positive test for steroids.

She won three East German national titles.

Tamara Aleksandrovna Sorokina is a Russian former Soviet middle-distance runner who competed in both the 800 metres and the 1500 metres. She set personal bests of 1:56.6 minutes and 3:58.89 minutes for the events, respectively.

Scott Neilson is a Canadian former track and field athlete who competed in the hammer throw. His personal best was 72.72 m, set in Seattle on 1 April 1978.

Ikem G Billy is a British former middle-distance runner who specialised in the 800 metres. He was the bronze medallist at the 1985 IAAF World Indoor Games and a silver medallist at the 1989 Summer Universiade. He was a two-time national champion, with one win outdoors and one indoors.
